I have to say that I am glad to learn that the sketchup devs do frequent this forum - as someone mentioned earlier this is severely lacking from the giants. The ultimate responsiveness would be the developers of Cockos Reaper (music production software). They are active on the forums and respond quite quickly in terms of developing features or at least explaining why they will be focusing on something more important. Suspect that this sort of answer would at least let Solo know when they might address this or if as suggested it is too big a task for the foreseeable future Regarding blender, ah yes.......I have downloaded and installed and uninstalled. Did manage to follow a tutorial that allowed me to turn a sphere into a heart and then do a basic render. Just that sketchup would introduce some decent animation path functionality. Took a look at Truespace (but since they no longer offer a format converter to bring in and export CAD friendly files.......) but man they have nice camera tools......

OK....probably a silly question but when do you use bump instead of displace in V-Ray for SU? I'm just now getting the time to mess with V-Ray Thanks, Jeff

As I said, someone will reply soon! Al, I left off something: after constructing the internal arc,you select the "fillet" and drive it using the follow me tool. Remus knows that you will get a cleaner result by his method. You may have to do some cleanup with the other methods. I just assumed that you wanted to work with the model you had already developed. mitcorb

it was confirmed, and the guys at DD told me how to uninstall. its seems its installed in plugins/ldd so plugins/ldd/unist/unistall.exe does the trick.

Ah, you mean scaling it "sideways" in this case? I was only doing it in the direction of the wall thickness in this case (as the original examples were about it as well).

Some renderers will benefit from GPUs, but most are CPU based, among them V-Ray.

A video card (which supports OpenGL - a technique SU uses to display 3d) has a software called video driver (this will "run" it on you computer). This should be updated as I suspect that your Vista OS needs a different driver for the same video card from what XP needed. At those OpenGL settings you tell SU to exploit all the powers of your video card (use HW acceleration) or not (disable it). If you don't use all powers, SU may become slower. It's not always a big deal however (I have done considerable work on two computers whose video cards didn't have OpenGL support at all) but the one I'm using now has a nice card with an appropriate driver and I can indeed feel the difference.

okay; this aspect seems to have been drastically imporved with 7.1 , it's a great move on the right direction... i've tested some orbiting moving with a large model, and everything was good... working on it will probably confirm this... good work Google team. keep enhancing this aspect of Sketchup...

Well I loaded and unloaded scripts until the date error disappeared. However, right now I forget what script was the cause. I know that does not help much. I remember that I could not find out what the offending script did. I will look into my old scripts directory when I get home to see if I can find the offending script. Should be home by middle of June. One thing I did learn, that removing a script might make the problem go away, however, reloading the script may not bring back the problem. Right now, I am having problems with and error on components making, I have went though all my scripts, and found that a section of five scripts may remove the problem, note, it doesn't seem to be the same 5 scripts, but removing each one of the five will not give the same results, in other words make the problem go away. It is hard to track down an offending script. Right now, I need to get something done, so I just make sure I make the entry into a group before I make it into a component. My work around this problem. Ken

@unknownuser said: I have a problem: when importing objects from wings 3d and blender that are exported in 3ds form, they show up incomplete! sometimes i get a simple fragment, and others, it looks like a machine gun bearing nut blasted it to bits. It has holes everywhere! Help Please! Possibly the models you are importing consist of very small surfaces. SU cannot fill faces that are smaller than about 1 mm square. You could try importing the model at a larger scale unit(like Centimeters instead of Millimeters or Feet instead of Inches) and then scaling the model down once in SU. Anssi
