Check View > Face Style has Shaded with Textures checked. I'm guessing that you have Monochrome checked instead.

What version of blender are you using? I find that with the new 2.5 alpha builds, the exporter doesn't work properly yet. If you go back and try the same thing in 2.49 stable build, the .3ds export to sketchup works just fine. [image: NGTq_2010-10-10_1127.jpg] [image: Ln9W_2010-10-10_1128.jpg]

One of the last companies you might expect to have freeware, but a few months ago I ran across this new free cloud light version of AutoCad. That could be an option, but I don't remember what kind of curve tools it had. You do have to create a login, but it is free. http://autodeskbutterfly.wordpress.com/

I'm pretty sure this is a graphic card issue. (which one you got?) Confirm by temporary disable hardware acceleration. If you see it then, update your drivers.

An old post but now you have Fusion 360 or OnShape or FreeCad that can import/export for free in formats compatible with SU! This site has more than an half million objects! https://www.mcmaster.com In Moi3D [image: object.jpg] and then in Sketchup [image: plop1.jpg]

A question or two for Massimo and Andre51: Where are you getting your images from? Can you make longer seamless images? There are patterns in the grain that repeat along the length of the grain that wouldn't in reality. I guess it would be alright for synthetic laminates. [image: ewaf_cherry.png] This material is 9 feet long. What if you make something this long seamless across the grain? The pattern will still repeat much like slip matched veneer but at least it wouldn't repeat along the length of the grain. Or you could mirror alternating "boards" and get book matched veneer. Thanks, Tom, I may try that. I've not been using the import of dwgs very often lately. Got a bunch of furniture leg profiles from a place that manufactures legs and other mill work which I would import and use as patterns to extrude. I've been making models of antique furniture using photos of the originals and found I can usually trace out the shapes pretty close, so haven't the DWGs much.

In addition, you can make it easier on yourself (editing,) by taking advantage of layers, to hide/show particular elements of the model. (Examine attached.) -Taff geo_taff(2).skp [image: 8Hho_geo_taff2.jpg]

Just to add to that - Tools On Surface could help in engraving panel lines - if you don“t want to achieve that by textures, but to extrude such curved surfaces, another Fredo“s plugin could save you a lot of frustration http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=6708&hilit=joint+push+pull

Too bad. Get a mouse for SketchUp jobs. The quick access to the navigation tools with the middle mouse button is indispensable. Look at the SU system requirements where it (not incidentally) says "...3 button, scroll-wheel mouse". However, if you insist, the Orbit (and Pan: Shift+Orbit) tools have a special behaviour when launched as tools used by the left mouse button (or equivalent of the touchpad): whatever tool you were using before, if you press the Escape key while in Orbit or Pan, you will be put back to that tool (so no need to select that particular tool gain). But this is really a "hidden" and rarely if ever used feature since (as I said and also suggested by the developers), most people use a proper, 3-button mouse.

Good to hear. I have the same problem...too many plugins that is. I actually went through my plugins folder before migrating it over to 8 to see what was in there....lots of buried treasures I'd forgotten about, and even some oldies back from SketchUp 4! [edit] Ha! Just checked PageExim, and it was written for v4. Too funny.
