You are correct that SketchUp's shortcuts system does not support key sequences such as LL or LLL (or LRL). There are multiple problems with attempting to do such a thing via an extension. For starters, the only API by which to gather keyboard input from the user is part of the Tool protocol. So you would have to have a special Tool active at all times to even be able to detect a key sequence. SketchUp's UI is tool-based. A shortcut or menu item activates a Tool that you then apply to make changes to the model. But activating a Tool - say the rectangle Tool - would deactivate the one you had watching for key sequences! It is possible in ACAD because ACAD is command-based, not tool-based. That is a fundamental enough difference that I doubt such an extension is possible in SketchUp.

Sounds very much like a file/folder permissions problem... I know you earlier posts suggested that you installed SketchUp 'properly', but can we try doing all of the following steps, for the avoidance of doubt... Login to Windows using your normal Windows user-account. I doesn't matter if that user has some admin-powers, or not. Do not login as a separate 'administrator' account. Ensure that SketchUp [and Layout] are closed. Find the SketchUp installer's exe file - probably in your Downloads folder ? Select its icon, right-click > context-menu > "Run as administrator" When prompted choose "Repair". Never run an installer's exe file by double-clicking it to 'Run' it - even if your user has some admin-powers it is NOT the same as doing it properly... doing it wrong causes unpredictable, and often weird, file and folder permission issues... Also check that the SketchUp.exe file in the Program Files subfolder does NOT have its Properties > Compatibility reset to "always run as administrator" - this can cause other issues When it completes open SketchUp and try installing the required RBZs using the Extension-Manager > Install Extension red button... Restart SketchUp after the installation to ensure any Libs etc get properly synced... Any better If it's still not working, then you could try these two things in turn... A. Open the Window > Ruby Console Use the menu items Extensions > SketchUcation > SketchUcation Archive Installer Navigate to and choose the RBZ file already downloaded onto your PC, it should then install... Any error messages in the Console ? Restart SketchUp to see what happens... B. Open the Window > Ruby Console Use the menu items Extensions > SketchUcation > Extension Store OR the first red-button on the SketchUcation Toolbar [ExtensionStore³] Ensure that the dialog width is sufficient to see all of the buttons on the right-side Find the required extension, then choose the red-button to 'auto install' it. Any error messages in the Console ? Restart SketchUp to see what happens...

Fixed it. The .rb file was pointing to a _loader.rb file in the plugin folder. It's actually a _loader.rbs file. I've informed them. It's still unclear which format will become the standard for AR viewing on smartphones etc....Apple's USDZ or Google's glTF.

I guess all I can say is good luck. I've seen another example today of a file corrupted beyond recovery because the user was saving his file directly into Drop Box and working on it from there. For files I want to work on with more than one computer, I save them locally and then copy them to a cloud location so they are accessible from the other machine.

The Mac previews are presented by a thing called a QuickLook Generator (QLG). SketchUp started including its own QLG only a few versions ago. It's not clear that it is fully stable - I too sometimes see the generic icon instead of a preview.

Hi, I am using 2016...updated my profile. I just noticed that the only 3 scenes that are exporting are ones that i renamed from their generic Scene 1, Scene 2, Scene 3, etc. The rest are still named as Scene #'s, but also, I noticed they are in brackets??? (Scene 4), (scene 5), etc.... Which I just dug into further, and now see that means the "include in animation box" is unchecked somehow, obviously by accident. FIXED! Thanks so much!

What a strange thing to do. Probably 100 or more STLs on Thingiverse when one openscad for each external shape would do it if it's written with variables as it should be. In fact one openscad with the shapes commented out and you are where you need to be. Even then it seems a bit pointless because surely anyone that prints things with any of these 3d printer has done this for themselves at some point. Still I suppose you have to keep up the thingverse tradition of posting what you did even though no one else can see a use for it.

Else you have this cool opener by Didier Bur for simple multiple drills not intersected with existing holes ! (don't works on Group or component) Select "only surface(s)" not the edges ! Menu Extension "Hole" [image: zLWD_GIF_openr.gif]

@box said: If they are components and not groups, they will update at the end of each action. I see! Thank u! I almost thought it can be done with "Live Update" haha.

Geometry is edges and faces. Textures are images that you apply to surfaces. Since you are using the free online version you will be limited as far as what you can do. No extensions so you would have to model it manually. I would suggest not worrying about modeling the fins and just make a smooth tube using Follow Me. Then apply a gray color or a metal texture to it. For your hobby application that should get the job done. Here's a quick example drawn in SketchUp Free. [image: pumx_Screenshot-10_25_20197_42_05AM.png] A path for Follow Me Add a circle at the end. Run Follow Me. Extend the ends with smaller diameter circles and add a metal texture.

It's been a while since I tried OpenCutList, so I could be wrong. My recollection is that it, like several other cutlist extensions I've tried, requires you to add some extra attributes to each object, for example to tell it which way is the long axis of each board. Steve R's CutList needs no extra attributes or setup and I like that simplicity. It makes the assumption that the largest dimension is length, next largest is width, and smallest is thickness. That isn't always right but I don't find that to be a problem for my work. I prefer to organize the actual cutting of the boards based on grain, coloration, and flaws in the boards anyway, which requires me to think about which way they go.
