Guys, you probably guessed what happened to me from the title. I opened sketchup and started drawing and never saved the file. After maybe 5 hours my drawing crashed. Generally I find my autosaves in the folder where the file is located but this time, since I never saved the file, it was called untitled and now that it has crashed, can I find my autosave file somewhere? Or have I lost 5 hours of work?

      Thanks

Not likely. Are you using SketchUp 2014 like your profile says?

If you are using SU2019, though, you might have a look in User/AppData/Local/SketchUp/SketchUp2019/SketchUp/working/SKETCHUP/RecoveredFiles. This is normally a hidden directory but if you enter the path in File Explorer, you may have some luck.

Actually I found it. It was located in the folder that was set as my "Models" folder in the Preferences section. And it was named exactly as I thought: AutoSave_Untitled.skp

You like playing with fire, eh? Living on the edge.

It isn't a good idea to save files directly to dropbox and work on them from there. Lots of reports of corrupted files (not only SketchUp) due to failures in the save process due to connection time.

            Are you actually using SU2014?

Actually I ve been working that way for more than 6 years. Never had a problem. For me saving and working directly within dropbox is a life saver since I work on multiple computers. Than you for giving me one more thing to worry about 😄

I guess all I can say is good luck. I've seen another example today of a file corrupted beyond recovery because the user was saving his file directly into Drop Box and working on it from there.

For files I want to work on with more than one computer, I save them locally and then copy them to a cloud location so they are accessible from the other machine.
