I see this all the time, t's down to mesh triangulation when you have cut in your 'decals'. You could try re-smoothing the mesh.

You can also make the two far values a bit wider and play around positioning the whole rectangle up/down a bit.

Well, that's not an easy thing to answer. Technically ANY "importer" does exactly what you're asking. It all just depends on what format your data is in. Have you created any standards for your data attributes?

@jean lemire said: Hi Peter, hi folks. @pbacot said: you don't need to draw all radii to the segments of a circle. just draw a diameter that is broken by a vertex at the center. Move up the center point while pressing the up arrow. I have difficulties with this. I know the method with two radii or one diameter divided in two (rigth click then choose divide in the context menu) but I cannot see how to draw a diameter that can be broken by a vertex at its center if I don't draw something else to break the diameter. @pbacot said: But tell me why: for the second edge you need to shift- erase to keep the cone smooth. SHIFT-Erase hide an edge. CTRL-Erase smooth an edge. So, for a cone made by pulling and endpoint at the junction of 2 radii, these 2 edges must be smoothed. Smoothing is not the same as hiding. Hiding an edge still shows the angle between the two faces separated by this edge while smoothing softens this angle and blends the two faces into one that gives the appearance of one continuously curved surface. Just ideas. Jean, if you try it you'll see that the second line needs to be hidden not smoothed like the first line. You would think they'd both be smoothed. What it has to do with is there is not circle any longer on the bottom. It is two curves. You can put a circle back in. To break the diameter at the center, draw the radii separately from the center. I just had a look at my Okino setup. I have the Granite pack, but apparently that is only for importing, which is what I've used it for. Sorry, but then I can't help you..

By way of information; I have found that there is quite a demand for this type of NPR image. Standard Imagecels stuff is fine if you are going for a photoreal effect, but just doesn't sit happily with native SU image export...or with many of the styles. I used to use a brilliant Photoshop simplifier plugin called Buzz Pro to do this kind of stuff, but the company (Fo2pix) went out of business...although if you search hard enough, you might find some 'orphaned' copies floating about on the Net. Topaz Labs took up the torch and now produce a filter called Topaz Simplify, which has a Buzz 'tribute' setting, producing much the same kind of effects. It will not only produce the kind of simplified image, like the trees, which blends well with SU's minimalist 'illustrative' look...but it can also produce effects that can turn all your existing photographic Face Me components into something that can blend in with just about every style that SU can produce. My first thought woud be Tools on Surface to actually draw the shapes on the cylinder...followed by Joint Push/Pull to extrude them. EDIT: ...or SuperDrape, as TIG suggests. It depends on the shapes that you want.
