I've been looking for a plugin, or something that would allow the following functionality.

Works like the line tool Click first point, click second point, get a line.

The change is, When click the second point, instead of a line, it spans a shape, or object between the two points. I have a joint (Puzzle Joint i want to place between to points all over my model)

The main benefit would be that the object be properly aligned between the two points. If it doesnt stretch between them, thats fine. Infact, what would be preferred would be that the object be palces exactly halfway between the two points and oriented to be aligned with both points. Has anyone heard of such a tool? Where might i find it? I'm finding it hard to describe what i am looking for and maybe, if it exists, thats why i can't find it.

      Thanks,
      Kenneth

        Hi Kenneth,

I think TIG's Free Rotate tool is the closest to what you are looking for:

It won't stretch or even align in the middle but at least you are half way there.

use the Align tool in 1001bit

[30 day trial to see if you're feeling it]

[after you get it into position and depending on how your axis is set up in the original component, you can use and to center or stretch etc.]

            Hi folks.

If you create a line between the two points, you can snap components to its midpoint. After that, align with whatever tool or plugin you want, rotating along this midpoint.

            Delete the line.

            Repeat for each instance.

            Just ideas

Has a tool come out in the past year or so that would do this? I find myself wishing to no end that the tool existed. I would love a tool that worked just like the line tool, with the exception being that at the midpoint, a custom shape was inseted midway between the end points, and alined with them aswell.

You can try my Add&Align Component plugin. You can find it on my blog.

Nothing is worthless, it can always be used as a bad example.
