Thanks for the speedy responses, much appreciated guys. Just tried your test driven and got an animation out as a mov. Jeff, thanks for sending your settings. I now think that the problem with my file was in the settings - basically I had fiddled with something I shouldn't have. Have exported an email animation of my problematic file with the settings re-set and it works fine. Was trying to get the files size down but will do that in post instead. Thanks again

@gaieus said: It seems that you are trying to use tools on surface. This is a zipped set of plugins and it also seems that you managed to install it corretly since it gives the error message. Now go back to that post where you got it from. There there is a link to an additional plugin library "LibFredo" you need to install (these are common files used by many of fredo's plugins so he decided to provide them as a library so that users do not need to install the same functions several times). ThomThom does this with some of his plugins, too, so when you get there, take extra care to the installation and requirements instructions. Often other authors also instruct to add other plugins (such an additional is very often "progressbar.rb"). Thankyou Gaieus sorry to be so long on the reply. I have been using the package without problem...except today, when I now pan my drawing disapears !?!? any ides what may have caused this

I just noticed that I don't even have to load a model. Sometimes it's enough that I just draw the first line, or move the camera a bit and it jams up again.

Kudos to Jeff! This will work on Mac skp 8! I was trying in v.7. No need for complicated alpha exports, not to mention my elaborate and, in retrospect, quaint workaround.. heh, heh.

Thanks a bunch Aerilius . That works fine for me, though its definitely not working with my dynamic components (where I stretch the object via a text field) Overall I think this would make a good feature request for SU9, the ability to make patterns oblivious to scale changes - maybe another pin? Cheers

Hi I am having an issue with PDF resolution in Layout. For a particular project I am importing an A1 pdf and inserting SU model views over as 2D edits to an over all construction project by others. All good. Then suddenly but not always, perhaps due to using the export pdf (or print to pdf native on mac) function, the imported pdf goes ultra lo rez. Even more odd is when I start to repair the document by trying to cut and paste good pdfs out a master doc 'command c' (Mac) not only immediately turns the good pdf in to an ultra lo-rez version, it also flips it in to a mirror image! Bizarre! Any clues you guys?

Hi Ittayd, hi folks. Can you be more precise. Do you want to correct the non planar endpoint(s) by moving it/them so that the shape becomes planar and thus can be closed or do you want to force close it. 1 - MAKING AN ENDPOINT COPLANAR WITH OTHERS In the first possibility, you can use the Move tool to actually move the endpoints. Since endpoints cannot be selected, after choosing the Select tool, make sure that nothing is selected. The Select tool has a feature that I call Autohilight. When you pass it on an entity, you get a pop-up inference and a colored dot or an entity that will highlight with your default selection color (blue by default). Some entities will be highlited, like an edge, and can then be selected by a click on them. For an endpoint, only the pop-up message "endpoint" and a green dot will let you know that you are hovering the cursor over it. Click the hiligthed endpoint to grab it and you can then move it wherever you want. Lets suppose that you have a group of five points where four are on the same plane, lets assume the horizontal plane, and the fifth one is at a different altitude. You want to make the fifth point coplanar with the other four. After grabbing it as describe above, you move it up or down somewhat untill you get a vertical inference shown as a blue dashed line and a message stating "on blue axis". Press and hold the SHIFT key to lock that inference. Now, the endpoint can only be moved up or down while preserving its other two coordinates. While still pressing the SHIFT key, move the cursor over any of the other four points. The grabbed endpoint will snap to the correct altitude. Click to complete the move and then release the SHIFT key. Redraw any of the existing edges to close the face. 2 - CLOSING A NON COPLANAR FACE The trick here is to triangulate the figure. Since a triangle is a flat surface, any three endpoints will be coplanar. You simply add diagonals to close triangles inside the perimeter delimited by your five endpoints, using the existing edges of the model. With five points you need two added edges to create three triangles. Once these are created, you can smooth theses added inside edges. Just ideas.

What I guess here is that you are tracing the road on a face inside a group or on an image entity. This is natural as it looks like. As you trace, SU is creating its own faces with the default material on. As massimo says, it is Z-fighting: the image and the new faces try to display and SU cannot decide. You can do two things here: Explode the group/image - and when you are drawing now, it is the face that you are dividing with edges and it will "remain" textured with that image material After you drew your faces, select all (triple click on a face) > sample the projected material from the image (if it is a face with material on it inside a group) with the Alt+Paint tool and apply it on the selected faces. Now everything will look nice 3rd of the 2 solutions: Don't bother yourself with the whole thing until you finish and you will have and easy life. You can always modify those faces later.

Sometimes it is good to position the material on that flat face just a little bit bigger so that you do not have issues around the edges.

@alan fraser said: Find the Round Corners ruby script by Fredo. It gives you 3 options...round corners, sharp corners and bevel edges. Select the top of the tent, plus the four corners that hang down and choose the round corners option. You'll see a dialog appear at the top of the drawing window...and also the same parameters in the VCB (Measurements box)...the spread of the curve followed by the number of segments, separated by a comma. Retype your own parameters...these would be something like 1" or 2cm and 3 segments. Press Enter, see if the preview lines look ok on your model then use the tick on the end of the cursor to accept them. thank you. yes, i did download it yesterday and applied it to the second tent. perhaps i just made it too round. since the edges where the tent cover falls down look to smooth as if it is a pyramid.
