Export/Import Attributes from multiple models externally

Hi, I am looking for a way to be able to access component attributes externally (without having to open the model) from a group of models at the same time and to export this information to excel or preferablly a database (so that it can be analyzed together).
Does anyone have experience doing this? I have looked at "SpaceDesign" but I don't think it can do this. I don't have ruby experience, but could start to learn if I knew that this was possible. Thanks.
