I'm a long time though intermittent user of SketchUp and now on Pro 8 on Windows7.

I've been having problems saving models that I have edited. The SKP file does not seem to be updating and I have to resort to opening the SKB file and then Save As as SKP file. Just to make it tricky the SKB files are named 0.SKB 1.SKB 2.SKB (ie do not have the same name as model) Very frustrating/confusing.

I vaguely recall seeing a similar problem reported on the SketchUp Forum but can't find it now and anyway I've always found the feedback on this Forum to be much more relevant/informed.

      Thanks in advance

      Dan

UPDATE just found the similar problem reported on SketchUp Forum with no solution.

It sounds like a Windows 7 folder permissions problem to me. What is the save location for your SKP files?

Thanks for coming back to me:

I'm saving to a project folder on my primary local hard drive (C) here:
          C:..... Interiors.... Bathrooms

Did you check that all users have permissions to read and write to that folder?

                Many thanks. That sorts it.

I hadn't realised that even though I log on as an administrator I didn't have 'write' permissions to a folder I had created. Windows7 confusing me! Though am easily confused!

                Cheers

Glad that got it sorted. I think it is a case of Windows trying to protect users from bad outside influences but in the process, they are making it harder for users to do much more than read their e-mail and play online games.

This is happening to me and it's not permissions.
Will save a file have worked on for days and I get a message file doesn't exist.
This will happen in a sessions that I already saved the file a few times.
Have to use save as. Then I see file 0.skp, 1.skp, ....
Eventually saves. Sometime I keep trying and it works.
Thought it was only imported files but now happeneng to some of my old files.
Then thought it was because I was saving while rendering but that was it either.
