Yeah. You can do that, too.

Hello, I am encountering a similar problem however mine is a bit different. In my Catalyst Control Centre there is no option to switch Sketch Up to use the AMD GPU. Is there another way to force SU to use the AMD GPU because currently it is using my intergrated Intel HD GPU

@tig said: Try this v2.0... It offers a new Y|N option at the start to save each definitions into the main folder = N, or =Y to save any nested definitions into subfolders named after their parent. Then you can choose to ignore those - e.g. those nested inside other components, or those in groups [which you might want to consider keeping ?] My man!!

Just some words of caution: IF you are unable to widen the ramp surface to extend under the ballustrade sufficiently, a sharp eyed inspector may say you need some kind of "kickboard" or curb for compliance. This might be related to use of a cane or crutches and the likelihood of these slipping off the ramp surface. Then again, this may not be a problem in your particular case. Excessive rail extension at the bottom of the ramp can also be a hazard under some circumstances.

To widen this topic a bit. Does anyone knows some good and free collection of low-poly trees and bushes? I need it for some landscape/cityscape design. I have a model of the terrain with streets and several hundred buildings and some extra stuff...And all that makes a model of 800,000 entities. And then I import a tree from a warehouse and - puff - my whole complex model displaying a significant part of the town has 800,000 entities and one sole tree has a milion and half!

For editing in Illustrator you will be better off exporting as EPS File (*.eps) Since EPS is a vector format this will allow you to edit the graphics in Illustrator and then scale to any size without loosing image quality.

I'm not completely sure I understand what you are trying to do, but here's a stab: How did you originally chop off the bottom of the complex shape? From some playing with your model, it appears to me that the bottom edge may not be perfectly planar. If you reveal hidden lines, zoom in, and roam around, you find strange looking things like these: [image: YkWv_ScreenShot2014-06-20at1.17.23PM.png] [image: 8gqu_ScreenShot2014-06-20at1.18.11PM.png] I think the intersect is generating Edges where bottom Edge segments of the shape lie in the plane, but leaving gaps where they do not, and as a result the intersections do not form closed shapes the way you expected. HTH Steve PS: those sorts of tiny missing triangles are typical of what happens if you do many kinds of operations without first scaling up the model enough. SketchUp does not draw Edges when it thinks their Vertices are too close together, and that causes jagged edges and missing Faces.

There are some plugins to make roofs. Of course doing it manually will give you more control but then a plugin might make your life easier. Instant Roof http://www.valiarchitects.com/sketchup_scripts/instant-roof 1001bit Tools (there is a free and pro version) https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/1001bit-tools-freeware These are the 2 that comes to mind for me. There's probably more solutions.

If there is one problem that Sketchup has as a truly viable software package it's that you have to find work-arounds for it's buggy weirdness. For more complex models using spline cages etc. I use MODO for it's brilliant sub-d integration, relatively low cost (compared to other "big" packages), and it has the best interface of any advanced 3D package. But that's a different discussion... -If you can't "see" your geometry or things disappear, it's probably because the scale of the model is small and so when you try to do certain operations SU just makes the really small pieces disappear as if being unrecognizable. The easiest way to deal with the small geometry SU problem is to use the "boolean helper" plugin which really only does two things: it scales up and it scales back down again. Of course you can do this manually, but it's nice to have easy to use buttons that just do it for you. -To get around camera clipping turn your perspective on (which will unset the clipping), then do a couple of operations, then turn perspective off again (if you don't like perspective on). I always have to do this periodically. So without being able to see what your model is specifically, here is what I would recommend: It sounds like you trying to build spline cages for skinning. For this type of operation SU isn't ideal, especially for complex models, but you can do it. First, don't try to skin the whole model in one go. Do it in pieces. In fact I would take pieces of the model and copy them into separate files, then after getting each piece to work, copy and paste the whole model and put it together. - I think SU gets confused when dealing with large groups of complex geometry and performing operations that it's not necessarily good at, but it seems to do better when dealing with smaller compact units and them putting them together. By separating these pieces you might also find where the real problems are.
