    • Scrapbook Tips

How are you guys organizing your scaled scrapbook entities?

I'm creating a LO file (we will call Kitchen) of CAD blocks and then creating multiple pages inside that file of the different Kitchen components (page1: sinks, page2: appliances, page 3: ranges, etc.) so I have a nice dropdown menu in my scrapbook thats categorized of all the kitchen stuff.

I'm trying to recreate the way LO has created its "CARS" scrapbook folder with the scaled versions all in one place. Are you guys just creating the different scales in SU and grouping them in one scene? Just curious. Thanks.

I attached the car scrapbook configuration I'm talking about.

    • RE: Layout Hatching tips?

Thanks for the heads up. I'm usually only using SU and LO as a schematic design presenter. But if any problems come from that overlay I will now go to that first instead of ripping my hair out.

I will look into that. For now I'm just adding a 20% white overlay to the views underneath any dims or text.

Thanks for the tips. That was the issue I was concerned about, dark textures and colors being printed. Even on small SD sets the "rehatching" of revisions is just a ridiculous method of working.

I'll just stick with textures in SU.

    • Layout Hatching tips?

I'm trying to figure out a way to easily hatch around things like windows and railings (see attached screenshots).

      Couple questions to that:

I have a SU model that I use for renderings and for light SD sets. Should I have a separate model for both? How do I link them if I make changes to one of them so they are both updated in SU?

For instance...I use a real wood texture in the model for renderings but in LO I would like that as a simple wood linework. I understand I can paint simple geometry in SU and then bring that into LO but I would like to just keep one model. Anyways, any tips on how you guys would do it?

    • How to retain scale of symbols when rescaling drawing

      Hope you guys can help.

I have added symbols and text to my drawing in Layout but I want to rescale my drawing smaller but the symbols are not rescaling with the drawing.

    • Materials changing scale on different faces

      Hey folks,

I have imported a .3ds model and then "soften coplanar" surfaces so I don't have to see all those polygonally surface lines from the .3ds model. Anyways, some surfaces cause materials to go way out of scale. How can I fix this? Is there another way to merge the polygonal surfaces besides soften coplanar? I have attached a screenshot of a concrete texture showing the right scale for one surface and wrong scale for another surface.

    • Embedding model onto website -Can you change the orbit angle

      Hey Community,

I have successfully utilized the new embedded feature on my website to showcase my SketchUp models. However the 3D warehouse "viewer" on my website looks down upon my SketchUp model and orbits from above, not really showcasing any of the cool features of the model. Is there a way to fix this? I have uploaded the same model to the warehouse from different starting positions before I uploaded, yet once finally embedded onto the website it creates and "aerial" view.

      Thanks for any help.

By the way I'm using squarespace, if that means anything.

    • RE: GEO Location grab of map not satellite?

Ooh well done. Did you save the map image from google maps and then scale to fit the "grab" satellite image?
