The class is somewhat like a module in this context... But still best to include the whole lot inside your own module... Can I suggest you revisit your various entities definitions. Sometimes you use model.active_entities, another model.entities, they might not always be the same thing... Also if you make your group and immediately add thing to group.entities it might be easier...

Have you tried to split your DWG to few smaller drawings and import them one after another to SU with 'Preserve drawing origin' ticked? File -> Import -> Options

@Dave R - Thanks for the additional info. That explains a lot. The 3DS model came from my sister's copy of HGTV Home Design Suite. I exported the drawing from there into a 3DS file, then imported that into SU. I thought that would work great, but apparently, something got munged either during the export or import. Or the exporter/importer doesn't work so well. Well, hopefully not all is lost. I also exported DXF files, so maybe I can use them to build the house. And if that doesn't work, well... then I get to re-create the whole bloody thing manually. Thanks for the advice, guys.

As has been said... you need solids to 'subtract'. However, the fix in this case is easier still... Select the top and edit it. Select the top face and use Context-menu > Intersect > with Model. The sink now cuts a 'ring' in the top. Select the top's face inside the sink and <delete> Done. The sink now has a matching hole in the top...

As driven has said, unticking export two sided faces should handled this situation. So i did some more tests and i have found out that my problem is my sketchup, or version of sketchup. I'm using the 2014 version and no matter what i do it messes up my export file. I installed the 2105 and it works perfectly. I don't have a clue on why this happens, but at least i have found a way to solve my problem. Thank you so much for your fast replies! It helped me alot.

Thanks for the help, Just thought I'd come back and post as i now have the issue fixed. Turns out that due to a previous install of Sketchup, there were hidden files in appdata. I had removed all of the files that I could find that related to sketchup but I had to instruct the computer to show hidden files. Thanks again

I only come back to SketchUp if the final output I need to deliver is .skp. I tend to use other tools to convert to skp.

You have run afoul of some of the gotchas of the way Groups are implemented in SketchUp. Beneath the skin, Groups are actually just a special case of Components and share almost all of their underpinnings. Because of this sharing, SketchUp implements "lazy" uniqueness on Groups. That is, if you make copies of a Group, SketchUp handles them exactly like ComponentInstances until you alter one in a way that necessitates breaking it off as its own unique Entity. Your "stone/plaster wall opening" is actually a Group, not a Component and your mirrored copy did not force SketchUp to make the two objects unique. This only happens when you edit one or the copies. What seems like a bug to me is that until you force uniqueness, the EntityInfo window displays "Component (2 in model)" when the underlying definition is actually marked as a Group and the supposed Component does not appear in the Components window (I confirmed the marking by probing via the Ruby Console)! Note that being a Group or Component has nothing to do with the name of the definition. The sash in your sample file is a Component with the name Group1231!

If you want the bent component to match the curve you should be putting the straight line directly over or under the straight component.

it may be a simple error on your part... In the past I have hit 'Preview' instead of 'Submit', read my post then quit... took ages to workout what I was doing wrong, i.e. I never hit 'Submit'... on the other hand, it may be 'Big Brother' censoring your post's... john
