Mind Hazza that if you use different styles in the same model, this is not an "annoying message" but a pretty useful dialog box where you can set different things.

The "Extended" version of Photoshop CS3 also has the capability to assemble an image sequence into a video, and then export it as either MOV or any other available format. Since the imported sequence of stills appears as a single video layer, you can resize it or apply (some) filters or layer effects to it before rendering it out to video. Or you can rotoscope individual frames (haven't tried it yet, but sounds neat). Or you can layer multiple video layers and control their transparency at various points during the timeline. Of course, PS CS3 is a much more expensive option than Quicktime Pro.

Dear Dave, Sounds like an interesting method. Would you like to do a brief tut as I'm not sure I understand the technique. Thanks, Bob

Thanks Juju. Now I know it is a bug too. I used Quicktime Pro and erased the frames in quetion. In fact, my last animation had so many "flashes" that I quit SU, restarted my machine while tossing all chaches and exported it anew. Now I was only left with the flahes at the exact exact transition point which where then easy to erase w/out too much damage to the animation. Truth to be told, I keep pondering if I should put money into my SketchUp skills with all the drawbacks, known bugs and limitations. Maybe I rather pay for tutoring in an established 3D programm like C4D or something. I still can construct in SU but do animations and rendering in C4D. Any suggestions anybody? Thanks Wolf

i looked at the attached file ... another alternative is using autocad ( or vector ) files . you may convert your logo to an dwg vector file using "scan to cad" applications , and then import it to SU . SU workes nicely whit dwg/dxf files .میتونی تو سایتای ایرانی دنبال این نرم افزار بگردی یا اینکه you may use this useful: http://www.cleansofts.com/get/451/7222/PaperPicture_2_DXF.html or: http://www.wintopo.com/wintopo-free.htm . needs a registration: http://www.wintopo.com/download-form.htm

Hi Chris, Could you upload an example file with this problem? As for your second question; I am now confused - are you trying to print from GE or SU?

@plot-paris said: I am a great fan of drag-and-drop actions (even if I am no mac fan ). a cool option would be just to drag a material and drop it onto another, which brings up a prompt if you want to replace the material with the dropped one... cool, isn't it? Very!

Wow... I am having the exact problem. Do you by any chances have Windows XP SP3 installed on your machine? Update: I updated the Nvidia video card driver and the problem went away. So the previous driver may be broken.

OK, I've now got the Subdevide-Smooth tools. It will take me a little while to learn the moves, but this is real progress. Once I get closer to a final model for Stonehenge, I'll start a new thread to let you know how it's going. Thanks to you all for your help. Solo, Isn't it the middle of the night in Dallas? Tom

as far as I know they enable you to determine the inner side or outer side of a shape. just imagine you have a cube. how is the computer supposed to know, what is inside and what is outside? some years ago everyone in europe believed earth to be the centre of the world until a smart guy called Kopernikus found some convincing arguments that the sun is much more centered than our small blue planet. two sided faces are our arguments to define the orientation of a shape. for basic SketchUp use this is not that important. but if you start rendering a scene it is essential. if you have a glass object for example, light will change its colour depending on the distance it travels through the material [image: QboE_pure01.jpg] (picture by http://www.purerender.com) therefore the render engine needs to calculate the thickness of the object. and it can only do that if it is told what the inside of the object is and what the outside.
