    • RE: AutoCAD

See the attached. Or just try by yourself: draw a cube in ACAD, switch to an ISO view, print out at 1:1 scale, measure it on paper. Think about this case: a circle in ISO view is an ellipse. How can the dimensions of an ellipse are the same as those of a circle?

In isometric, you should get real dimensions. Lines on the x, y and z direction should be to scale(1:1). There´s probably a bug in 2d iso export that will export isometrics at .8 ish of the correct scale. I´ve also had it. The solution has been to scale with reference in acad the exported dwg.

Of course, dimensions simply cannot be true in an ISO, you need AXON instead. But SketchUp (and all 3D programs I know) doesn't support AXON.

I have done all of the above, parallel projection, standard view-iso, and the dimensions - i tried both arch 2D and arch 3D and there was no difference. I don't understand why it's not working correctly either. any other suggestions?

    • RE: Major bug?

Wow... I am having the exact problem. Do you by any chances have Windows XP SP3 installed
      on your machine?

Update: I updated the Nvidia video card driver and the problem went away. So the previous driver may be broken.

    • RE: Some work

      Thanks for the comments.
This was actually built in ADT (Architectural Desktop) as a BIM model. I used SU to create renderings, animations, and shadow study for presentation purposes.
I turned off the edge display on the main facade rendering because there are so many unwanted lines showing that I didn't have time to clean them up (a drawback with importing models from a different program, they won't be as clean as being built directly in SU). I gave the trees slightly different scales but I guess I would need to rotate them to give further variation as you suggested.
The time to build the model is hard to tell, as the design has been changed so many times.
The time in SU is actually not very much, once I have all the entourages in place and the scenes setup, it's just the matter of reimport the updated model or portion of it, export the images, then sit and hope the computer won't crash.

Thanks again. Other works I see here are fabulous.

Your background, was that placed in KT prior to rendering or is that post process? It really makes the shot. Nice.

The background image was placed in KT. Thanks.

    • RE: Maximum Render Size?

I always have the same problem with exporting images larger than 3000 wide. Given the model is quite complex, about 60MB. SU5 works sometimes. SU6 is worse. My computer isn't a sewing machine either, a quad-core with 4GB of RAM and a QuadroFX 3500, running XP64.

      Thanks for the comments.
Here's the SketchUp rendering. I was trying to use the same camera in Kerkythea but the wide angle lense makes it look odd for a photo realistic image.
