This are the Settings I used at last, as suggested by valerostudio:

() Set the "Max. subdivs" to 100 (one hundred). Leave the "Min. subdivs" to 1. (Done)
() Set the primary GI engine to Brute force GI. Do not change the subdivs. (I left the Irradiance Map option, there was no "brute force" in the version of vray i'm using)
() Set the light cache interpolation samples to 5. (I assumed this is called "Filter Samples in the version i'm using, if so, done)
    [] Noise threshold 0.001
The rest of the sugestions were already set by default.

I think the render improved a lot, feel a lot better with the result, i'm posting the image for your critics if possible. Thank you!

It's not quite clear from your post - are you using the dome light? If so, you can edit your domelight to be hidden. Further down in the light editor window there is a setting under "options" for dome light to be invisible.

    thank you for your reply.

but it is possible to pull the noise shader in the length?
in VRAYforC4D it is possible to change the relative size! πŸ˜•

    Hi Tom,

Have you played with your Dynamic Memory Limit settings? I was having trouble with Displacement doing strange things as well, and after some testing I've found that having your dynamic Memory Limit set to somewhere between 1024 and 4096, I seem to be getting better faster renders.

I forgot to mention I have a dual core. If I add anything refractive it slows down render time....but I'm not using vray anyway, so my render time comment is wholly irrelevant. πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

You could make a double sided material that is Transparent on the back-face and opaque on the front-face. This will allow light to pass through without being to see out. I've done something similar (actually the reverse) for the ceilings of units so that I could get a sense of lighting by windows by look at the unit from above.

I didn't realise you could read them with a text editor, I assumed they were some form of code. Which is seems many of those I downloaded are.
I also think I now realise why they don't work. In many cases the directory path from the original location is set within the vismat. So naturally when I try to use them the location is different and the vismat or Vray can't find the relevant bitmaps.
Luckily many of these textures include the necessary bitmaps, so it seems as I use them I'll eventually build my own library.

Thanks again for your help Andy,

    Regards
    Joe.

this shouldn't be an issue in 2.0. If anyone is still using the outdated 1.6 BETA version, please upgrade to the latest release. 1.6 was a beta only, was buggy, and was not ready for commercial use.

no, the dongle is required in order to use our GUI or render.

we would like to examine the scene file and fix the issue if you are able to send it to us, but to work around the issue, you might have luck if you go to system preferences->general, and check the box for "close windows when quitting an application". This ensures that opened docs are not reopened when the app is opened.

Alternatively, we only attach or plugin to the most recently opened model, so you may have luck opening another su file by double clicking it. The problematic scene file should still load, but we won't attach to it, process it, etc. You should then be able to close it without an issue.

We have resolved some issues that would cause complex/large scenes to crash in this manner on OSX in a nightly build. If you are interested in testing your issue out in one of those builds, send me a PM.

hehe, I'm just thinking back to numerous posts "why doesn't my ies light show up" because they got some very low power ies file that won't work without 1m intensity. Just saying - OP needs to figure out the basics of artificial lighting in a scene before venturing down the ies maze...

    Hi Uri,

Where are you downloading the Demo Version of V-Ray from? It should just auto install to what ever version you're working on. The best way to go about doing this is to sign up on our website and download the 2.00 Demo build here: http://www.chaosgroup.com/en/2/downloads.html?s=v-ray-sketchup#demox32

If that doesn't work please email us at vraysketchup@chaosgroup.com and we can get you up and running!

Also, you should check out the V-Ray for SketchUp Forums as well: http://forums.chaosgroup.com/forum.php

Good luck getting started and let me know if you run into any more issues with the install!
