Have you tried Thomthom's vray toys? There is an aspect view setting with the plugin.

also, you might need to change your camera settings - decrease your shutter speed and your aperature settings.

I've attached my leather material for you. Just change the diffuse1 color to edit the leather color. When you import into SU you will see a BW image and no color on the leather in the model, this is how you adjust the scale of the bump map. Currently, this is the only way to visually do this. Its one of Fernando's workarounds. Adjust the reflection and bump as needed. Leather.zip

I dont really ever use infinite plane because of its limitations. Doesnt seem like you need it in this case. Just draw a large face and then you can do whatever you want to it.

Thanks Tom. And you should Francois, it's not my design. It's not apparent from this particular image but it's actually a houseboat named Watervilla de Omval. It may not be too far from you actually as it's in Amsterdam. Here's a link with a lot of good photos, floor plans, and an address http://architecturelab.net/2010/11/watervilla-de-omval-amsterdam-by-31architects/ Richard, my goodness, you're still around? I thought you'd fallen into a hole long ago I seem to see you so rarely these days! I hope you're just too swamped with work these days. As grandma always says, you really should come around more often Anyways, thanks for the congrats, it means a lot coming from you. -Brodie

Sounds like very good news. I hope the timeframe from the release of the Rhino update to the release of the SU Beta isn't too drawn out. In the meantime, I took advantage of the Maxwell promo and bought a Suite with 5 render nodes at 30% off.

I would also say that exporting to scale to PDF or EPS or printing to PDF would be the easiest way. To create a 'to-scale' raster image is also possible, but it is more complicated, and you will have to go through an image editor: in SU, create a parallel view. Draw an empty frame with known dimensions round your model. export an image to a high resolution. Open the exported image in Photoshop. In Photoshop, crop the image to the frame you drew. If your background is uniform, you can use the Trim command Resize the image to the dimensions your frame should have on paper and to the desired final resolution. Now, if needed, you can crop the image further, when you save it, it will retain its dpi value so that it will get placed to Indesign to the right scale. Anssi

Hi, those are plugins: Skin; Subdivide and smooth. Anyway, if you are interested in Subvide and smooth I suggest to buy Artisan instead by the same author. It's a lot better.

interesting, those are glazed then. I am more familiar with the unglazed type. You might want to add a second reflection layer to give a deeper reflection. If you look at some of the car paint vismats (available in the download section at the chaosgroup site) those use a combination of reflection layers to give depth to the reflection. I couldn't tell you offhand which ones to look at. The increased subdivisions gives a cleaner rendering. With low subdivisions, the result is sometimes noisy.

Not necessarily darker as the projection light source is independent of the exterior sunlight. When in doubt, I will google for an example and if that produces nothing I will do a small quick-and-dirty mockup to study the effect I am trying to reproduce. Of course, you can also build the projection effect right into your model and not have to do anything in post. However if you understand what the result will be it can be quicker to fake it.

Try the vray two-sided material. There's a tutorial about it too (floating around somewhere) Simple steps: 1.make your curtain material - (it should be opaque, but if you want it sheer, you can use translucency and maybe a texture map) 2. create a vray two-sided material (from the vray materials window - and make sure it's NOT the SKP two sided), set both front and back materials to your curtain material, check the box for force one-sided, and set your color to a light gray) 3. apply your material to your curtain. (I also apply the original material to an edge to make sure my material doesn't get purged.)

@chris fullmer said: ps - I work on images that get up to nearly 1gb. And they just keep getting larger and larger each year as I develop my editing process. I'm sure I'll break the gig size soon and probably keep going. Chris, what graphics program are you using with these size files? I have a 500mb aerial jpg that I tried to change to a png in GIMP but went to 2.5gb! Only reason why I tried it was that SU like png's right...?
