V8.0 is released https://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=2Dtools Or via the ExtensionStore dialog. It fixes a glitch with v2026 whereby some MAC users could not get the TAB key press/up to work to open dialogs in some tools, and some PC users had to press/up 4 times to make TAB work. But <=2025 users had no issues. I've now improved the onKeyUp methods to optimize TAB use in v2026, but it can still be flaky for some users. including me needing 4x press/up! So as an additional option I've added one press/up on the Shift key which will also open the dialogs, in certain tools like LineStyle and Hatching. The Help pages explain this dialog opening more fully. Please try and report back issues...

Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Hi TIG, thanks for the orientation. Since I am a neophyte in sketchup programming, I will need more a step by step help. If you could give the code to copy in ruby and specify where to put the Z value to select component. Is it made for edges or faces selection only or a whole component can be selected. Does it select all components above or under the Z value or the component that are on this coordinate? Thanks for more information, sorry not to catch at first pitch! S.

I had to ditch a LOT of older CAD stuff to make way but I finally got UE5 installed. It looks extremely powerful considering the price point and there is a definite effect to be felt in the industry when the dust settles but that has been asked before so maybe little will change. Habit rules us as much as anything else.

@mike amos said: I had previously installed as admin What exactly does that mean? You signed into Windows as the administrator? Or did you right click on the installer and choose Run as administrator from the Context menu? @mike amos said: Despite this pluigin being installed and looking at View - Toolbars, nada. Does the Extension Manager show it is installed? Did you try restarting SketchUp after installing it? @mike amos said: I might give it another go but frankly I went through the whole procedure five times and nada. There has to be something wrong in the way you installed SketchUp 2022 or it would have worked. I guess it's all moot though since you've decided to stick with 2021. Best.

Don't copy your extensions from an older installation of SketchUp unless you enjoy chasing loading errors. Some extensions require the proper installation method, some need to be updated to run in the new SketchUp version. Best to install them fresh from their sources. If you used the Sketchucation Extension Store tool to install extensions from here, install it first. Open it up and sign in. Then click on the gear icon at the top and go to Bundles. You can install the latest versions of the extensions in your bundle automatically without having to search for them all.

@juju said: I'm curious, why would SUPro2022 ask for a Classic License when it no longer supports it? There are some special cases in which SketchUp 2022 can be opened using what looks like a classic license. They don't sell those licenses of course but they can generate them for outside parties such as beta testers.

a variation - once you have the "wires" laid out, ctrl-a to select all lines - examine the length in your entity info, then create a component with the name like "elec_wire_256" for 256 inches (or whatever your base measure is. round up then when you run the report the wire components are listed in a grouping and the various lengths. i also include wire type/size such as "bx12-3" or "nm14-2", etc as part of the name... so "elec_wire_" + "bx12-3_" + "256" then i can readily parse it into a spreadsheet by splitting on "_" underscore.

There isn't a tool to specifically lock the direction the camera moves but you coulld use the Position Camera tool to place the camera for each scene. You can use guidepoints or geometry to identify where the camera needs to be placed for each scene. Out of curiosity, how will you use this with your model? Quickie example: Camera positioned at each end of the edge shown selected in the foreground. [image: pWfM_Screenshot-3_26_20229_12_37PM.png] Result of transitioning between scenes. Click on the picture to see it move. [image: ZVyI_PC.gif]

Actually it is quite true. I have favorite component directories that I can't delete. No option... Still a bug. If the directory no longer exists we should be able to delete it from favorites. Period. Having them persist and junk up the list is a bug. And yes Sketchup has other bugs they have not addressed. For instance the use of "/u" in directory file paths that breaks dynamic components. Pretty much makes dynamic components useless for anyone on windows who uses the "/Users" file directory, which is most everyone... That bug has also been around for years...

LOL! Seems to me there's Lidar data available of at least most of England but I'm not sure if you can get that in a form that can be imported into SketchUp. I looked once but not very hard. Maybe you'll have to get one of those GPS gadgets and walk around collecting spot elevations. Then you can convert that into a point cloud. I've been wondering about doing that for my own property. Honestly, I expect if you need high res terrain data for single parcels of land, you'll probably need someone on the ground.
