might be useful to have a dialog option to enable users to add basic info - select type, enter model #, H-W-D, and/or maybe select similar product type and re-size to "simulate" pending adding an actual model.

i know for me, given space constraints on uiltity rooms in recording studios, having the equipment sized correctly (as simple boxes) is much more important than the detailed looks when configuring the approximate systems layout for the engineers to refine later.

    • RE: How to remove non-existing but listed Material Libraries?

and then, when you update to 2025, the default is into the app data\roaming directories, but still mysteriously mapped to the old 2024 path - so you end up with duplicated entries if you copy from the 2024 into the new home paths in 2025... very confusing - the preferences setting should be honored as-is or port the old path into the preferences... i just spent an hour trying to figure out why i was getting duplicates when i copied over to the new preference settings... please fix this in the next update...

best to get a chain lock on that or someone will likely steal it (assuming they can ride it or fit into their car LOL)

    • RE: Import he NCS color system from .ase-file in SU

there are sources for the NCS colors and there are also online and github converters to get to rgb or hex which as Rich has pointed out could be imported from a text file.
e.g. source https://www.paintcolourchart.com/ncs-colors (which shows corresponding rgb, hex)
      e.g. https://github.com/m90/ncs-color

for some reason, many "metric" countries are using different building codes and material sizes from the others. whenever i start a studio design for someone - first check - get all the building codes and material sizing for that country established before beginning the actual design work. early on (~20 years ago) i made the mistake of assuming all metric countries were "standardized"... then after doing all the construction docs, during review the builder pointed out all the wrong dimensions on the materials, code-prohibited practices or confused one etc etc... needless to say another 3 weeks to fix it all...

    • RE: Beautiful Amsterdam

the secret is to make sure you're taking advantage of the mass transit system and weekends. i was fortunate enough to spend about 9 months of a year there and walking around on the weekends, and playing in the open mics around the city (thereby meeting people as well πŸ˜„). it's not a big city (like London for example) so on a weekend you can cover quite a lot of territory and really see the small shops and restaurants etc that are missed when taking taxis... renting a bike is nice as well but there is a "stolen bike" problem (mainly the city takes the bikes then resells them -- but that's a different discussion πŸ˜„ )

i dumped the color list into a spreadsheet and ran the convert code to create the csv i attached to my original message.

looks like some more configuration work needed.

      1. part way scrolling through a list of posts suddenly there is some refresh looping causing the entire page from the advert on down to jump back and forth (up and down really) making things unusable.

      2. the "vote" column might be better on the outside column so accessing the last post link isn't potentially cutoff from the view when the browser window is smaller than (perhaps) optimal for the site?

yeah i think keeping the disclaimer a bit more succinct - the first sentence, skip the next two, and keep the rest plus you might include the user assumes all liability for the use of this report blah blah blah.

also, my plates are never that shiny πŸ™‚ what do you wash them with? πŸ˜‰

seriously though, spend a bit of time setting the reflections. almost everything in the room seems to reflect... leverage settings like blurred reflection on surfaces which are not polished. and in general, i'd just turn down a bunch of the reflection levels.

      @medeek said in Medeek Engineering:

you would think that after years of refining the code we would slowly arrive at suitable load combinations and stick with them.

yeah, but then without so many conflicting standards, where would we be? all those jobless standards bearers would be out on the street making mischief... lol

yeah, definitely depends on the gear a content creator needs. many will simply need a good computer, possible a good music keyboard or two, good video monitors, good audio monitors, and fresh air. many would fit into a 9x11 room but more would be better in a 12.4' W x 15' L due to best ratio for acoustics assuming 8' H ceiling.

the smooth curved units need "0" ends to meet flush to straight legs. meaning one more beginning and end arc segment. in my example using 8" and a tight 90Β° it becomes apparent. the ovla and round duct joins on perpendicular ducts looks good, the rectangules ones (as you've shown) still need some love to get to meeting flush. πŸ™‚ overall a good start!

simpler is better for the model. same when you get to things like decoupled collars, etc where it is possible to get crazy with geometry whereas i think most would be interested in a) good models w/ schematic options in wireframe mode, b) fairly accurate calculations/stats on flow and frictions, and c) parts list...
