BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

It's Eneroth's - called https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/eneroth-legacy-save It lets you save your model as an earlier SketchUp version. It doesn't overwrite the default 'save' option. But you can set a shortcut to it, and use that in lieu of the native tool...

And make sure when you installed it, you right click on the downloaded installer file and choose run as administrator to make sure it installs correctly.

If you are wanting to zoom and pivot from a fixed position, as you would a camera on a tripod, you should look at the Advanced Camera Tools that come with Sketchup Pro. ( In the tools menu) Once you create a camera, you can look through it and pan and zoom from that point. You can use the arrow keys or the look around tool to pan, and either change the fov with a right click/edit camera, or using Option and the arrow keys. The center mouse wheel and the field of view command from the camera menu will both move the camera and mess up your shot, so don't use them, and make sure to lock your cameras when not adjusting them to avoid accidentally moving them. If you don't lock them or remember to exit them when done, (right click/done) they will follow you around in a very annoying fashion.

Yes, that is what it looks like to me, too. If you download the 'solar north' plugin from the extension warehouse, then you can click the top button in the plugins's toolbar to toggle on and off.

not sure i follow you pbacot. see attached sequence of crude screenshots. their numbers don't match the narrative below, but you get the picture. grab block's midpoint and drag it along red axis until it snaps to path 2's left edge drag block down along blue axis so it's flush with the poured concrete footing using inference snap, of course. move block to path 2's right edge using midpoint snaps and tap ctrl to make a copy. divide by 2 and erase the outboard copies. slide block along green axis and place it wherever you wish, nicely centered, on path 2. Edge color by axis as a built-in tolerance that will accept edges slightly off axis. Sometimes, as here, edges that are close enough for it to color are off by minute amounts that can mess up other operations. One would have hoped SketchUp could be more consistent, but evidently that's harder than it sounds!

@gmthompson said: removing the rb from the plugins folder has resolved the crashing Apart from the extension needing to be compatible with SU2019Pro, which I am not sure of as I do not use it. What method did you use for installation? From the sounds of it you copied and pasted the *.rb file into the SketchUp folders. If so, this the wrong approach, you need to install it using the Extension Manager, also uninstall / remove it using the Extension Manager. Cudos for trying to be more efficient though!

Suggestions; Didier Bur's truly excellent points cloud plugin (Cloud v8.0bxx) is excellent and well supported - get it from the plug-in store. Fredo's Toposhaper will generate surfaces from that data. If you need to do more work on it, import and preprocess in a GIS like QGIS and then export as a shapefile and import that into SU using the Spirix shapefile importer (https://sites.google.com/site/spirixcode/code/spirix_shapefile_importer.rb?attredirects=0&d=1). Ive been using QGIS to match up LIDAR generated 2m contours with imagery and align to the same CRS. Importing using the shapefile importer has required some simple scaling but gives good results.
