BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Hi, It's been a minute, I know, but I still have the Move2Elev plugin if you want to give it a try. But I believe there are many other plugins that can be used instead. Perhaps vertex tools or something with "align" in name. I don't remember exactly how this one works. Here it is: [mod=:1ve79dnz]File removed. because the author hasn't authorized redistribution.[/mod:1ve79dnz]

A lot depends on what you really need and what direction you want to head. Various plugins like Curviloft from Fredo6, Extrusion tools by Tig, Soapskin and bubble will all do what you need, but you may need to fiddle them a bit to get the results you want. My personal go to for something like that would be SUbD, but it is not free and has a bit of a steep learning curve. However once you understand it it can be indispensable, depending on your work of course. In this example you can see how just changing the edges in the corners changes the finished shape significantly. [image: NVCatR6.gif]

No. I'm suggesting you don't explode the components until you've replaced the geometry inside with a guide point. Since all the X-cross objects are instances of the same component, you only need to edit one of them if you don't explode them all first. After you make the edit, explode the instances to leave the guide point cloud you are after.

Sketchup will export whatever is in the model, expecting a future update to somehow ignore random geometry is somewhat optimistic.

That is one of the things people forget, models are just edges and faces, so you can select the end and scale it, or the whole end section and so on.

As Box guessed, they are Dynamic Components. Rotation is set in the Component Options panel. [image: GNB1_Screenshot-3_20_20214_04_09PM.png]

There is a known issue (feature?) when using Architectural units that the ~ indicating that the displayed measurement is rounded isn't shown when both feet and inches are present.
