Hey guys
I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues.
Is there another solution?
It is too bad that we can't snap to end and mid points with just faces showing. This on its own with display of lines not connected to mesh, could be a mode that would be very Open GL friendly.
Interesting Thomas,
One would think that if it works for Poser, a similar way could be found for sketchup.
But what about Vista (and its 64 bit versions)?.
Vista has the 3B switch 'on' by default, but in a global way, not per application...
I am not having the impression that SU is large adress aware in Vista neither (=I experience the same crashes as I used to have using XP 32 bit when exporting large SU files to a render engine).
Zoom Window was in the toolbar in previous versions but has been moved to the Camera Drop down - but is there any way to add it back to the Toolbar - so much easier than keyboard or drop down?
Thanks,
Chuck
Hi Alan,
Yes, that was the problem.
I thought I had already scaled to the correct size and didn't think to check that.
Thanks for helping me solve this.

@ geh Of course I have used Soap Bubble
I retake the lines of Modelhead
As Plot-Paris said Bubble Soap must have closed lines
So you must trim your boat for have some parts closed
Here I have added a vertical line
The blue line is closed!
When a part is Soap Buble made, make the same for the contiguous part etc...
For easy use put each part on a different layer
View top is not helping for the concept
As you see I had skiped the second horizontal line!

Hi Chris,
Her is a little translation of Matt666 thread :
Import the component you want to update : File -> Import
In "Window -> Components -> Select -> In Model", right clic on the component which has to be replaced and clic on "Select Instance"
Right clic on the new component you have just import and clic on "Replace Selected"

Ciao,
Oli
Hi all, I have been working on getting complete construction takeoffs from models for some time now and i have come to the conclusion that it can be done accurately but the time taken to draw the model up is sometimes greater than the time it would take to do a manual (computerised) take off. so at the moment I am at a point where I need to rethink my approach. I have a few good ides of an easier way but I need to learn a little ruby first.
I must say that the cutlist5 ruby is by far the best for carpenters and I hope that Chris's Namesets can come up with something a little more polished. For me and I guess a lot of other sketchupers who are in construction a total package more simple yet more comprehensive than rp reports ($1500 are they kidding?) and more versatile than cutlist5 would be ideal. I am going to have to dig out my geek glasses and build it from scratch.
I will keep you all posted.
P.S has any one tried cutlist6, I have it loaded but every time i try to open it I get a URL link error. Am i just a gumby or do you all have this problem? If any one could shed some light on its new features, please post them here. Cutlist 6 may have what cutlist 5 is lacking... and then I may be able to put my geek glasses back in my pocket! Or even better sketchup 7 will come out with a varation of all the above and we can all estimate easily.
Thanks Tom, I thought about that as one way. That would require finding the center point of the curve. The method that i used was draw a line perpendicular to each mullion. Then align each bracket to this line.
BTW when zooming in how can I avoid the clipping of the view that occurs? Im having a tough time getting in close to view things. I know this has been talk about quite a bit but never knew if there was a solution. I tried changing zoom factor but this did not help.

both of these reported SketchUp bugs (missing faces when a polygon's points are too close together less than 0.001, and unit system scaling wrong) are now fixed up for the next beta release.

So wait the next
For personal use (its free, but you have to register) I have MojoPac installed on a portable 250GB USB Hard Disk.
I use nearly all my applications on the move including Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp.
Plug in to any host PC (providing it has a modern spec), log in, and away you go.
You use your own personal environment on the "guest" PC.
No files or any sign of your activity is left on the host PC when you log off.
It still has a few minor bugs but nothing that has really caused me any serious problems.

Just to add one more tip for anyone stumbling across this later on...I've occasionally had a weird issue where even purge won't take care of a massive file size. It's been awhile but I think it tends to occur when you sometimes when you delete big chunks of a model as I recall.
Anyway, the end-all be-all purge is to turn on all your layers, copy everything and paste into a fresh drawing. This has helped me a couple times in the past.

Hi Andrew,
Jim has a plugin that adds a layer which is hidden on all scenes by default:
http://sketchuptips.blogspot.com/2007/08/add-hidden-layer.html
As Gaieus says... Jim's script lets you make a new layer that is NOT visible on any scenes/pages. You need to switch it on in the desire scene/page(s) and 'update' that/those scene/page(s) to suit...

shade i don't want use adobe pdf viewer, too cumbersome for me, and this not works with foxit reader.
but good to know this possibility.
Maybe if we all take a minute to nag Foxit, they might respond. I'd be willing to pay for a small, fast PDF viewer over using the free, but huge and slow Adobe reader.
