Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

I've had this before where a perfectly good looking view is subsequently rendered buggy by the addition of geometry to the model that should otherwise not cause shadow problems. Have you tried cutting a section plane in front the visible objects but behind the "camera" to essentially eliminate anything behind the camera casting a shadow on the camera.

I think so. The problem occurs in 2 situations. One is a totally opaque round tube. The other is on 3d cars which I've "painted" w/ a translucent white so they're sort of ghosty. I believe the cars do, indeed, have the white color on both sides of each face. I'll keep that in mind though to double check. -Brodie

Yes, plot-aris seems to be right ! After many experiences on this fact during my works, the zoom is completely dependant on where is the cursor ! When you're too far from your model and you point on a empty space with the cursor, the zoom is too slow...point on a part of your model and is getting faster. When you're closer to your model, if you point on a empty space with the cursor, the zoom goes too fast and the "camera" goes behind your object...still pointing on your model and the zoom will be slower until the camera goes behind it ! But that's right, it's a little boring sometimes when you're working on small parts of a big model, or in wireframe mode !!

Then there is the CentrePoint plugin from Smustard that will create a guide point for you. Select the circle, Plugins -> Set center point, then dimension to the guide point.

It's quite odd that Google hasn't pushed this more but maybe they are watching for a while to see how it works... Or they are just implementing this "routinely" now for all their online services... Or - and that's where my earlier comment came from - they are going to make this a major part of SU7 (direct synchronizing and versioning - and maybe other "social" features) and are waiting for an announcement there... Or maybe there's just an innovation-fatigue with Google where people just don't notice all the new features anymore...

In the meanwhile, Jakob (Plot Pris) has also joined as a collaborator. I also made some changes - there were some typos in the description - see the history page how it records the revisions [image: qJWB_ScreenShot019.jpg]

Hi Hannsen, I'm so sorry that I didn't respond to you earlier. I started a response, but I must have forgotten to hit "Submit". There is one more thing I can think of to try. In addition to deleting the com.google.sketchuppro.plist, could you also delete the com.AtLast.sketchup.plist (assuming you have one). Does that help? If not, contact the technical support folks at Google using http://sketchup.google.com/gsu6/support.html. Are you, by any chance, using a localized version of the product? I guess that could be another potential source of the problem. Best, Tricia

Thanks, Pilou, I tried the Ruby on a couple of the stones in the model and it looks like it will work pretty well. I may have to experiment a bit to get it just right. Thanks again, Tom

Are you printing straight from SU or are you creating an image file from the model first? I suggest you create a image file (Jpeg) and then you can check the text size on the image

@hazza said: @hazza said: Then right click again -> Rotate - > 90 (or 270) .... and if you have multiple faces that need rotating: click off the face so that the coloured pins disappear but the face is still selected, click the "eye dropper" in the materials dialog box, sample the rotated face, click any other face that needs it's texture rotated. ...and here I have been using Sketchup since 2002 and I never knew! I could have saved so much time in the past. This program rocks (usually)!! Thanks for this.

if I remember well, the width and heigth of your frames must be multiplies of 4: this means that the codec can compress a 800 x 600 PX video, but not a 807 x 603 one. Some codecs require a multiply of 8. I'd use a DVX or Xvid codec: they allow you fast compression and good quality. [/matteo]

@watkins said: Dear Paris, I would draw my square and make it a group. I would then draw my post/spindle at one corner of the square and then make it a component. I would then move and copy the post the required spacing, and then use *N to repeat the move/copy N times. Lastly, I would rotate/copy the array around the centre of the square to complete the four sides. Rotate 90 dgrees first, and then enter *3 to complete the square. Regards, Bob Thx Bob, It didn't occur to me to rotate within a square.
