BlenderGIS can get you pretty good images.. you do need an API key to get set up but it's all free and you can even generate 3d geometry based on the elevations in the satellite images.. it tiles in blender so you the more you zoom the better the image quality to a point.

Hey Mike, I'm sure you figured this out already, but when you first create the attribute type a number with the inch mark like 0" or 0' in the value box and hit enter. This will set the unit for that attribute to inches. This only works for the first time a value is entered. After that first initial value, you will need to use the attribute info dialog to make changes. In addition, you can use 0 to set it to text (not "Default: Text") and 0cm to set it to centimeters. If anyone knows a shortcut for setting the unit to Decimal Number, I would love to hear it!

Hi Dekade, hi folks. It would be easier having a look at the SKP file to see how the model is made. I suspect that your woodpieces are not separately grouped or componentised (sorry for that word). Keep in mind that, in SU, layers are not used as in CAD softwares. They do not separate geometries. They only serve to control the visibility of objects. To separate geometries, you must use groups or, for repetitive elements, components if you want to save in file size. See attached SU file for ideas. Textures and rotation.skp

No problems at all, TIG, Gaieus, I did think it was extremely dodgy and had no intention of buying from them if they we're illegal (like they looked). Idiots.

Great! If you use the results with a rendering product, lets see what you get. I will be interested in whether it make textures tileable problems automatically?

@anssi said: The image does not tell me much, but I have one question to make: What did you model this with? Are the "walls" and other such things done with AutoCad Architecture (or its predecessor, Architectural Desktop)? SketchUp cannot import the special "AEC" objects created by these "vertical" applications, so you would have to use the "Export to AutoCad" function in that application to export the model to a new file with the special objects translated into standard AutoCad 3D surfaces. Anssi Truthfully, it was probably created between both. I have AutoCAD Architecture at home among others which I use, and in college it's architectural desktop

To solve this problem, you should place all three monitors in a box, as well as the 42' HDTV and mail them to my address immediately so I can have a look!

Aylossaa, What is the source of your DWG files? Is it in a format that SU can recognize (SU can import version 2007 files and older)? Can you post a problem DWG for us to check? Anssi

Thanks for your views both. I have had a play with twilight and it certainly has some good effects although as you say it renders a view at a time each time. Maybe lightup is the way I should be going for its in house continuity I will give it a whirl.

. That's hilarious.... We figured a fix tho. Docked the M90 to a hi'r-rez monitor and then tweaked it to max rez and lo and behold we could grab the edge and resize. Not sure how it happened, but now I thk I may have to drag the stationary monitor around -- just in case.... Thx again /D

TIG: Thanks for the reply. In my first message, I mentioned the "limitations of the program". I failed to mention the limitations of the user. The error was really my doing. Anyway, I was able to complete the exercise by copy rotating a rectangular section to the intervals of a 48 segment circle and meticulously rotating each rectangle 3.75 degrees, so that at each quadrant, the rectangle turned through 45 degrees. After that, I simply connected the corners with lines and diagonals to close the faces. Hardly worth uploading.

v2 is now published.... The v2 rails AND the profiles can have any number of segments - the rail/profile with the most segments dictate the number of mesh facets... You can go down to only one segment in a curve if desired... but it will be automatically re-subdivided into the same number of pieces as its more segmented sibling... Keeping a pair of rails/profiles with the same segment count or simple multiples thereof will produce the smoothest mesh but any combination will work...

Hi Agrazdi, hi folks. See this SU file for ideas. This one was made when the Rotate Tool could not easily set its rotation axis and had to rely only on an orienting plane. Today, wit plugins that allow the twisting of a model, it would probably be easier. Also, now I would do one half and use mirroring possibilities to assemble a complete model. Moebius strip.skp

@starlex said: So, what about difficulty? Is it harder then Max? Vue imports .skp files directly. @starlex said: I was noticed, than SU7 is more faster with Hi Poly objects than SU6. Maybe, if I will bought quad-core top processor, I will be able to work with trees and plants in SU? SU won't make use of multi-code processors. You might get use for it in Vue - I'm not sure how it works. But for SU, it's the speed of the processor and the speed of your RAM and the rest of the system. Higher speed rating for your hardware.
