    • RE: [Plugin] Universal Importer - v1.2.6 - 30 July 2024

**This is a huge game changer for game developers like me. It is almost up to par with the Skimp plugin's importer which comes with a pretty heavy price tag. The reason why this plugin is so valuable is that I can import models into Sketchup while preserving the UV map, and then export them back into the game engine (Unity in my case).

The only thing it's missing is the ability to preserve the scale and position of imported models, which is the only thing Skimp has on you at this point.

      Thanks a ton!** πŸ‘

    • RE: The 3D Warehouse is Currently Down

Whenever I go to that page, it is completely blank. I've sent the URL to a few of my friends on AIM and they are all having the same problem. I've tried three different browsers, which are all updated. Also tried using Sketchup's browser.

    • RE: Issue with Installing Plugins on a Mac

Thank you very much to everyone who responded - you have resolved my issue.

Here's what I was doing wrong:

I would go into finder, click on "Applications," and find "Sketchup 7." Then I would open up that folder, find the Sketchup icon, and right click to review "Show package contents." I would then put my items in the plugins directory. And POOF! Nothing would happen.

As several of you suggested, I should have instead browsed to Users-blahblah-library-application support, ect.

Putting the plugins here fixed the problem! Again, thank you to all who helped me resolve this issue.

Just to clarify, when I say 'plugins directory" I mean "plugins menu" within sketchup.

    • Issue with Installing Plugins on a Mac

I am completely unable to install Ruby Scripts on my Macbook. (Apple, you suck!) Here is what I am doing -- let me know how I screwed up!

      1. Download the script
      2. I have tried placing the contents of the downloads in both of the following directories:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup 7/SketchUp/Plugins - which Smusterd and others recommend

      and

      Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google Sketchup 7/SketchUp - which Google recommends

      1. The files copy properly, but when I restart Sketchup, they do not appear in my Plugins directory.
      2. I have tested the following plugins: Sketchyphysics 2, and a free version of Subdivide and Smooth

Thanks in advance for any help! Wish I was on my PC 😒

    • Short question

Hey there. I've been using sketchup for around 3-4 years now and had some great ideas for plugins, but I have absolutely no idea how to code/program with ruby or any other programming language.

I've already been to the Ruby website and followed through on the tutorials that teach you how to execute simple commands such as "print" as well as how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. However, I still have absolutely no idea how to take the next large step and actually figure out how to script something more useful than a "hello world" script.

Can any of you point me to a good resource to start out with? Would a formal class be necessary?

    • RE: Sketchup in HD?

To solve this problem, you should place all three monitors in a box, as well as the 42' HDTV and mail them to my address immediately so I can have a look!
