Hey guys I am desperate for very high resolution/quality satellite maps, I use Placemaker and I also use Nearmap but the resolution is not that great, I have tried using AI to upscale but that too does not really solve my issues. Is there another solution?

@tig said: What units did you use for the DWG import ? Using the incorrect options setting can exacerbate the tiny geometry issue... Alternatively importing a mm DWG as if it were meters will make the facets x1000 bigger and likely avoid disaster. When it's in OK, you can [re]orient the faces consistently outwards, and finally Scale down in 2 steps - 0.1 and 0.01 to achieve the 1\1000 th reduction... The units are in mm, I did makes sure the import happens with correct scale and I did cross checked the measurements and they are correct, both in AutoCAD and in Sketchup. But I will give it a shot by increasing the scale to see if I can avoid that. Thank you!

Well can you make a rectangle and pushpull it and make a group, Then make the next rectangle etc. Grouping the drawn geometry as you go? The selectiontoys idea only works if you are trying to separate faces from misc. edges without faces--which I thought you meant.

@sdmitch said: @littleche said: yes! How did you do? There is a "bug" in the current version that is prone to have this error when 45 rotation is used. It doesn't always fail. I'm hoping to corrected and updated version soon. thanks sdmitch . You and other SU plug-in developers Are very, very dear For me and other Members sketch up . I wish you all good luck ... thanks again ...

Kristina, your image doesn't show because it is linked to your computer. You need to either upload it here or to an online photo album first.

Seems to be a saving to network thing. Exporting to my desktop worked. Hmmm. Simlab worked because it saves the maps to a location in your plugins folder. The other nice thing about Simlab is that when you import the FBX, each object is its own in MAX and not a single group with a multisub material applied. Not sure of the advantage/disadvantage though. Just testing a SU to Max workflow that would allow for a linked file.

~~ @rich o brien said: @dave use the beta forum to log snags but there's been a change in scene mode. in SU if you have a scene with camera location set to NOT SAVE then in EDG3D that scene is a free rotate mode. most of your other points will need chatting elsewhere Please delete my prior post. I also just saw the post from Gabor and just downloaded the plugin again and am trying again. Did not notice that this was not the beta forum. Please delete this and my prior post and I will readdress on the beta forum.~~ My apology. My original posts were incorrect and in the wrong forum.

if your maintenance is running you should have received already your SUP 2015 license data by your supplier approx. in November 2014. Be aware, that license data of older SUP versions as e.g. your SUP 2014 won't work with the recent SUP 2015. if you do have the SUP 2015 license data and don't wanna user the SUP 2014 version further, remove the license data in SUP 2014 via "Help > License" and enter your SUP 2015 license data either in the splash dialog resp. "Help > License" at the new system. An active internet connection and a LAN adapter as well as a working MS Internet Explorer v9+ resp. Apple Safari is required for doing this. hth

It may not work the way you'd like it to but it isn't a bug. It's the way the toolbar manager was designed to work. While it might be more convenient to be able to make multi-column toolbars, the benefits of this toolbar manager over the old one make this a very tiny inconvenience. The major benefit of this new toolbar manager is that it prevents the toolbar scramble that was prevalent in SU8 and before. Try making the SU8 window smaller and then drag it out larger again. Do that in SU2015. Big difference. You can also customize the native toolbars and make your own. I've omitted Dimensions and other text tools along with Pan and Orbit from mine giving me more real estate for other tools.

Smooth/Soft edges gives a rounded appearance between two facets - typically used when the facets form a 'surface'. Hidden edges are not displayed - the junction between two facets is sharp. Having View > Hidden-Geometry ON lets you see such edges as dotted line styles, You can apply these properties to selected edges, but if you want all of the edges in the model to be unseen. then it's easy - make/use a style which has the edges option unchecked. EDIT: Dave beat me to the line ! Your working style will need edges showing to let you draw and edit things but your animation scene-tabs can use the edgeless style...

Derie: FYI The attached pic shows both the orginal on left and your problem model on right. Each is locked in my skp. You posted model was flattened, then used PP to extrude up to height shown in original and dimension shown at same display resolution for each. As can be seen both correlate. This approach basically replicates your model and one would expect both to be same. However, if the contention SU randomly changed model it seems reasonable errors in x,y which is not case. Detail look at steps in model creation can hopefully find where error was introduced. [image: ByiR_Component_134_original_mac1.jpg]

You could give Handbrake handplane (now free) a spin, however I think the main application for it is a little different to what you have in mind. EDIT thanks for pointing out the error

@oceanembers said: Projection will cause distortion at the extremities of the cylinder, so it maybe isn't the best idea for any graphics/decals that aren't decently central, unless you want to start sectioning off areas for different projections. Other than that, yeah projection will work in OP's instance, it was probably overkill for me to suggest UV tools. Working with one of the UV plugins would indeed be the best and most accurate approach - no doubt... However, although the OP have set his SU experience to advanced, he seem to have limited knowledge about UV and how it works - as far as I can tell - hence I suggested the projection approach before jumping into more complex plugins and ways to apply textures on cylinder shapes... You need to learn how to crawl before you know how to walk...

Ok, I see what's happening. I cannot edit the library of materials. That's the way it should be. I am able to edit any materials that are used in the model, which is also the way it should be. All is well! Thanks.
