Hi Red- The LayOut autosave files are now in a different location: when I run v3.0.16845, the autosave files are placed in /var/folders/x4/q40x3v7d23j7d3vywjt6cb65mkwh3m/T/com.google.LayOut.mdurant/ and each file has a directory name of the form LAYOUT.bG3O7S. Obviously the name of the "q40x3v7d23j7d3vywjt6cb65mkwh3m" folder is likely to be different on your machine! However, in theory you shouldn't have to manually recover these files from the temporary location - they should appear in the "Recover" tab of the "New File" dialog when you start LayOut. If the "Recover" tab isn't visible (just "New" and "Recent") then LayOut hasn't found any recoverable files. Is this happening to you? thanks, Marc

I've noticed this also. It happens infrequently. Sometimes I can't dimension in the scale of the model, but it measures the paper space, as you put it. It hasn't happened enough to notice if anything particular trips it, but I wonder if it's associated with changing scale. Bst, Jim

Andy, I'm glad that helped. As to the color and 3D stuff, have you seen what Nick Sonder is doing? I'm no expert but I think he, and you, have an edge by using color and perspective 3D. It may take some folks a little while to get used to it but the additional information you can give that way is a huge benefit.

I tried that just now and I must have done something... I hit a few options so I can't know for sure what did it... But I lost all ability to print. I have like 4 different printers and it would not print to anything. kept saying I needed to add a printer. finally I just did a system restore back to this morning and fixed it. Now I'm gun shy. I'm going to go back now and do as you say and only as you say and then test.

Text bounding box margins on the mac are usually bigger than on windows. This is an issue esp. with small text, dimensions, etc., since this margin is fixed, and not proportional to the text size. If you plan to work cross platform, try and keep text boxes not too "tight" on windows. I believe it has to do with layout mac using several os native tools for text rendering, not available on windows.

despite the different wording I suppose this is resolved. If you have this problem, try updating. Might save a headache or consternation.

I've run into this when trying to create a PDF of a Layout file with over a dozen pages. I've had to break it down into two or more files and export pages one to six to PDF, then seven to twelve, etc... Then join all the PDFs. I've attributed it to needing more memory.

I moved it, Charlie. I also reported the bug directly to the LayOut team.

Having the same problem as well. Only thing to do is to undo and retry. Happens especially when selecting text- the formatting jumps automatically to the top in the family. Let me guess you are using PC not Mac?

Where is the paper size window (I must have a worse problem)? Edit: In the "New from template" command the dropdown window has a "New" tab and a "Recent" tab.

If you could provide more details, like a LO file that you start with and the steps that you did to not be able to save, that would be helpful in fixing the bug.

I know red is a serious LO user, as am I. WOW! .... 3 months has passed ... still no answer. One would think the guy developing LO would stick his or her nose into this forum now and then, to see how the latest beta 3 version is working in the real world! i'm having the same prob. on PC. locks, closes or just quits. i get through 2-3 levels of angry birds per vec render. line drawing only.

Might this be a model size/distance from origin glitch? Now that I think about it, I seem to remember someone got a similar thing once exporting a PDF or EPS from SU. Anssi
