UPDATE! I want to thank the Sketchucation website for a place for sketchup users to come together and share knowledge on many aspect of sketchup. I have always loved organic architecture like what Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, and Guy Dreier create. I would always imagine houses in a way that I don't see much of, and would make sketches of what I would see in my minds eyes but I was limited in what I could draw. Before I found out about sketchup three months ago my ideas were only in my head and some on paper, but now its like I have been given the keys to get them out in a way I never thought possible. So I want give a special thanks to Tigs and Cotty for pointing me in the right direction, the video by cotty helped a lot and the tools recommended by Tigs were the right tools. Thanks I have added some pictures of my test project house I call the Modern Bungalow I designed using the extrude tool, fredo scale, joint push pull and Kerkythea to render it. I also found a lot of new textures. Thanks Again. I am so excited about skectup and what it has allowed me envision Aaron [image: 4Sw1_back1.jpg] [image: kOux_back2.jpg] [image: Ytva_back3.jpg] [image: 7hyM_interior1.jpg]

@solo said: @sartje said: thanks for the info but how do i get it to stand up then? The question is how are your SU skills? If you do not know how to move and align a model yet maybe creating animals is premature with your current SU proficiency. At moment I'm swamped with work, maybe some time in the future I will do a tutorial video on how to create animals. I am a beginner yes but know already alot about sketchup and have made different things but never had to use the rotate to get something stand up so that's why i didn't know it.

You're right... it would be better if had used more segments... but i was looking for a fast solution so i created a curved surface an projected some straight lines on it, then i used follow me with some circles along the lines, that's why they look so crooked (is this the right word? sorry for my terrible english!) I should have taken the time to do it right...

Thank you so much for your help chaps, it is really amazing to see how Sketchup has been redefined as a program, the organic modelling is exactly what we need!! The examples is the thread suggested by baz really give a newbie like me a great idea of how the proxy shape guides Artisan to create the curves...very, very interesting. We will keep on learning the hard modelling side so we have understanding and flexibility to create the proxy's we need, thanks again, you have all been very helpful.

Nice!! I took my eyes of this thread, didn't think it would see anymore action, but then I come back and wow! Nicely done guys! Taff: Yes, Fresco, that's where I got the image! I took a screen capture from something I saw on youtube and then forgot where it came from. He's far out! lots of inspiration for modeling. Its funny to think that he uses those little plastic models to communicate his ideas rather than 3d models and renders. They look so dinky, hehe. Great techniqe Stretching half of the sphere to get the almond shape, while melding with the proper sphere great idea. Ill have to play with that one and try to duplicate it. also, leave it to the guy with the spinning geodesic as his avatar to make a weed joke...hahahah classic! **pbacot:**nice refining of the techniqe, thats the closest yet, and who wouldnt want a little extra porche! Thanks for playing along guys.......I knew there was somthing interesting about this shape, glad to see it gave you a bit of a bug too.

Hi Bob, As weird as it may seem, I'm still struggling to label my job correctly! I'm working in the event organization industry and what's closest to what I do may be stage design. Basically, I'm given cad plans of the venue where the agency want to organize an event and I try to meet production costs and artistic ideas to sell the concepts. Since the business is quite slow at the moment, I like to spend some time practising, modelling and rendering and trying to help people when I can. I got helped so much on this forum... It's an amazing community! When I started modelling in Sketchup 3 years ago, I just thought I had to do my best to make a living out of it. And when I started rendering, it just met my personal tendency for precision and taste for photography... It all just made much sense! I started rendering with Kerkythea and now I'm using Thea render. Thea render's new release is very exciting and from my point of view a true revolution for Sketchup users. And a lot of the Sketchucation community also migrated to Thea which makes Thea's community also amazing. I can say I met a lot of great people on this journey and if I can also help a tiny bit then I'm the happiest guy! Nice meeting you Bob! Have a nice day! Nicolas
