as far as i know the better method is using some curviloft/tig estrusion tools, depending on the shape, making sure to keep the original geometry instead of deleting it, so that if you need further tweaking/editing you can redraw the thing quite fast. i find in this case is much easier to redrav than rscale/fix/cleanup etc..

voilà ! Yes, FFD was perfect for adding the curvature to the bent lattice, thanks cotty. Since this is practically a tutorial at this point, I will include a render of the final product (really the first of many iterations I have planned for this technique!). Thanks again for all the help, now I have whole new tool set ! [image: JhWf_teschair2.jpg] [image: 1dI2_teschair3.jpg] [image: B0VD_teschair4.jpg]

Yes exactly It would save so much time, I am modeling alot of architecture, things like 3d bevel siding, brickwork etc. , doing one now I will post later of an older building with a rough textured block. Im thinking: select face, extrude edges x distance past thickness, array component, explode all, intersect with model erase negative space, reverse faces in negative space, or something along those lines. My ultimate wish would be some kind of code driven geometry, or smart component that would recognize edges and adjust itself accordingly, ultimatly I would love to see a program that would do perhaps stone work without tiling, using some random number generator function, and some ways to mix the shape with out repeating. +1 for Pilou's comments. Also, if it is to be rendered, the scales would be better done by bump or displacement mapping rather than geometry.

@jonedvard said: Creating a Victorian Lilly. It's not wrapping as nicely I had expected. It's almost there - but the faces that won't paint "Front [Natural] - More Than 4 Edges". What does that mean? Can this be corrected or will I need to recreate the model before painting? Thanks in advance! Jón Vón In QuadMesh mode, all faces must have 3 o 4 edges max. Otherwise, use the Projected or Natural mode, which should be OK as your surface looks plane. Fredo

"Roof with raking verge[s]" If you add a short length of eaves [fascia] at the bottom of the slope - as you most certainly will to make it buildable - then it still applies... Or "Roof with raking eaves" [or "fascia"] If it's tiled/slated then you'll have a pain cutting the angled edges. Also if you consider it a 'sloping eaves' then remember that the finish needs to dress/overhang a gutter to catch water run-off and that gutter in turn needs to discharge into something to take it into a downpipe - so the two raking verges shouldn't meet at a point because their gutters need to arrive at say a hopper-head into a downpipe to make a properly drained and practical roofing solution. A modest width 'internal' gutter [like a half-valley] will allow the fascia to end at a point but the disposal of the water still needs considering...

For the most people, that orange color doesn't help much. Though I can understand that. The only understandable images are the last two. My suggestion is... put some descriptions.

i did a slight variation to the proxy to obtain a quad-mesh most confortable for texture mapping, faster selections and further editing and it works fine for me.. hope it can help someone else for mapping leather, fabrics, etc. on it. quadface tools rocks! I've downloaded from my above post and was not able to extrude from it. The video is "Wheel Pant- Sketchup Artisan Tutorial". I've continued to work on this and I have found that its seems each time I try the extrude only works three or four times and works better extruding behind the image plane than in front of it. Sometimes I click on it and attempt to pull it out, nothing happens, although the numbers in the lower right box increase, then I let off and the icon moves back and it extrudes out the back. I have found by closing and redownloading I sometimes can have enough success with the front extruding and here is what I was able to do today. It's a bit of progress and I'm beginning to feel as if I might be able to get this after all. Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica SU5.skp

No problem if all that is copy of components ? Just edit one instance or a little more complex Create a new component, select all goto the Components Menu / In Model RightClick on the icone of the new Component: Replace Selected If all that is copy of groups Thomthom plug Selection Toy can save you! @unknownuser said: Convert into Components - Converts all the group copies into components. Transformation and materials will be transferred. Useful for when you have a model where groups where used instead of components. So you will can modify one component as above If not that is another "rookie error" If all that is not components or groups if you are very lucky maybe right click on a white face / Oriente faces do the trick in one time That will say that you have made a curious modeling (but I doubt) In last chance Fredo 6 has made a plugin Reverse orient face who can maybe help you in a hand workflow At the end maybe some TIG plug can make something like fix reverse side Material ? If all that don't make the trick, your last chance is a persannal plug cooks by TIG with maybe a special selection of a similar face ? Bu we must wait more details of the situation or maybe a file skp
