How to model this kind of folding shape?

Hi,
Has anyone had any experience modelling a curved ribbon-like surface like this? I'm looking to make a worktop surface using a twisting form like this but despite using the Curviloft plugin I cannot figure out how to do it.
Help would be appreciated!
