Hey guys, I know this is a basic question, but I have been having trouble consistantly getting my vray textures to scale in sketchup. I'm trying to use imported materials and have gotten them to scale before, but only on organic, forms using this method

However, when I try to simply scale a material on a flat surface, nothing works. Can someone walk me through the process or tell me what I'm doing wrong? Right now I

      1. Apply a sketchup material
      2. Apply my imported VRAY material
      3. Render - see that the material isn't scaled correctly
      4. Rescale the sketchup material
      5. Render - scale has not changed at all

This is probably something easy I'm lokoing over but your help would be appreciated. I think it has something to do with using linked materials, but I don't nkow how to turn in imported material into a linked material. Thanks ahead of time : )

        Hi tronic,

For a simple face, could you try this method:

        1. Apply the material
        2. Right click on the face (painted with the material)
        3. Go to Material > Position in the context menu
        4. Position (scale, rotate, what not) your material (if needed) - if not, just hit Enter.
This should position and FIX your material to the face (otherwise in SU it is fixed to the world origin).

That method fixes it just fine for my sketchup material, but my vray material scale is left the same.

Well, Tronik, in this case I cannot help any further since I don't use Vray.

The most I can do is to move your topic to the Vray subforum hoping that someone chimes in there.

hope this rule of thumb that i am using will work with you if you are not using vray link materials...

for the size of 600pixel by 600 pixel map, i am using variation between .04 to.004 on both U and V.

                hi tronik .

i got the same problem & i found that if U are gonig to change the materialls setting in SU (Like scaleing, rotating , Colors & ...) many time the chages dosen't apply to V-Ray. (and i think that it happend when You are useing one kind of matterials in to form like one brik with to scale in one file or with to colours)

I use this to remove it but i think there must be a beter way.
1 - i export the materaills to JPEG.
2 - do what i want to do with that in Photoshop and save as JPEG
3 - Import image as texture and use it on somewhere (every where i want)
4 - save that to .skp file and use it.

                  Hi,
I had the same problem - on some surfaces in one SketchUp model the scaling of texture (in Materials Tray - Edit - setting different size of texture) was working, on some not (it was the same type of surfaces - wall). In SketchUp the size of texture was changing, but in the Vray render not. I don't know why but it helped to reverse the problematic faces and add the material with the texture again. Then it worked. πŸ˜„
If someone have the same problem, I hope this will also help him. πŸ˜„
