Why do you need 2 materials? All sides on your picture look identical. Anyway if you still want 2 the easiest fix is PS. Select problematic areas, then Fill with content Aware option. Plus some Stamp tool. P.S. In 3ds Max displacement can work as modifier (not like a part of material) so multiple materials on one object is not a problem. Good luck. P.P.S. Try Vray Fur- it has no seams.

Hi, I have a similar issue. All renderings turn white, after saving the file. Vray for Sketchup 3.40.01 and sketchup 2017 on Windows 7. Any ideas? Thanks, Greg

@rspierenburg said: Is there any chance the wall in the mirror has a reversed face? Could that cause the issue? Good point! Indeed it was reversed, but fixing it didn't solve the problem. It still looks bad. For now, the solution I found for this, was to render the entire image, then reverse bump map and use render region to render only the mirror, and altough this does not fix the problem I can't even see why it happens to begin with, so it looks like I'm stuck with this solution.

@dave r said: @port said: I'm waiting for your answer Why are you waiting for my answer. You should be waiting for an answer from Chaos Group's technical support. You said you are waiting for an answer from them, right? sorry, the message was repeated without the previous correction @port said: What do you think I can do to repair it? Short of getting a response from the Vray people, if I were you, I'd start investigating the the problem model. Remove custom textures and see if you can get the render to complete. Look at what works in your other models. Compare them to this one and see what is different. thank you so much! I'm trying to clean the model as much as I can to see what happens

Much better. I don't know what vray has for white balance, but that could help. I also use an all white color for a background image and that helps.

...the same thing happened to us (in the company where I work) recently, shortly before we switched to SU2019 Pro. Not even our professionals from the IT department got VRay to run, although the demo clock started ticking anyway. At the end of the demo period, we all couldn't even test VRay for 5 minutes - too bad! I'm not very skilled in installation routines myself, but the activation process seemed to me to be unnecessarily complicated - as i said, just my impression...

It turns out the culprit was the file I was working on. Vray works fine with any other file. Thanks anyway.

An app requests more memory allocation from the OS when it needs it. Perhaps vray has a preference setting to set or change a limit what it uses? So far as I know, there is no macOS way either to limit or to increase the amount of memory used by an app.

I know it might be a little more involved but Unity might be a good option as well.

I think it is fairly possible to do it using layered glass material composed of two layers: 1 clear glass layer masked over a frosted glass layer using the design on the piece.

Hi The first thing I would check is your Antialiasing settings - if they are high enough to smooth those jagged edges and try different filters. If that doesn't help it might be some issue with color clamping - I would try to turn on/off "Subpixel clamp" option and play with it's value. Also color clamping in Frame Buffer can sometimes give such an effect.

Hi I think you can save the V-Ray settings as a .vrayopt file and then load it to the scenes. Also, when you export the scene as .vrayscene it is just a text file where you can edit the options in any text editor able to handle large files like Notepad++ or EmEditor. They have options to rename the parts of the text as a batch.

TL;DR version: Go into LIGHTS -> Sunlight -> Caustic Photons and change the EMIT RADIUS there. The units are in your model units. And the center starts from the sun's location. Full explanation: Vray projects a beam with an 'Emit radius' when rendering caustics. Where that edge ends, you'll see a cut-off line. In 3ds max you can set this emit radius' direction and size visually. Buuuht, not here. In Sketchup the sun is the emit source, so depending on time of day(!) you'll have to fiddle with the emit radius. The attached image has three swimming pools: at 34' from the origin of the blue axis (0,0,0), then again at 60' and again at 90'. At 1:00pm the sun catches all the pools nicely, but the 2d and 3d pools aren't getting enough caustic photons to show caustics properly (top half of image), because the emit radius is set to 700, which doesn't extend far enough. NOTE: The units of this model is inches, so that's 700 INCHES or 58.3'. The yellow circle has a 59' radius, and you can see the 'dark line' cutting through the pool. The second render shows the emit radius set to 1080" (90'). This time the third pool is captured and begins to render caustics. Tadah! [image: oTXY_vray-causticsperemit-radiussetting.jpg]

For those curious, I re-rendered it on a PC with a better CPU and GPU and it came out fine, no issues. But I am still curious as to why this problem occurs in the first place, perhaps I can improve my modeling/rendering methods to avoid it.
