I wish my question was about the actual rendering I'm trying to do and I'm going crazy trying to make this work! How do I get V-Ray to begin activating product license?
This is supposed to start up automatically on opening sketchup but it doesn't 😞

So I have vfs.rb in the sketchup plugins folder, I've installed, uninstalled, reinstalled and repeated to see if something was wrong with the installer app. What to do?

What version are you trying to install? Do you have a dongle?

I tried installing the vray for sketchup free demo, the file is called sketchup_2015_win ... my version of sketchup is 8, is that why nothing is happening? And i don't have a dongle lol

SketchUp 8 is not officially supported by any of the latest versions of V-Ray for SketchUp, you are behind by quite a bit, and now there's even a 64bit version of SketchUp 2015, which I believe anyone will agree, is the version of SketchUp you want to have if you're going to be using any heavy hitting plugins such as V-Ray. If you want to use our product in SketchUp 8, your best best is to try using the 32bit demo for SketchUp that is just called sketchup_win. I'm not entirely sure that it will work, since a lot as changed since SketchUp 8, but you can give it a try.

                Hi!
I've downloaded a demo version of V-ray for Sketchup Make 2017 on 2 computers, Mac and PC, but neither one lets me start doing renderings. When I click on asset editor or render button, the following comes up: "Failed to checkout a V-Ray for SketchUp license. The V-Ray License Server (by default accessed via internet browser http://localhost:30304) has no V-Ray for SketchUp licenses available".
Not sure what am I doing wrong, this is the first time I am using Vray and the trial version hasn't expired yet on either computer. The Chaos License Server is installed as well.
I would appreciate help very much!

😐 ...the same thing happened to us (in the company where I work) recently, shortly before we switched to SU2019 Pro. Not even our professionals from the IT department got VRay to run, although the demo clock started ticking anyway. At the end of the demo period, we all couldn't even test VRay for 5 minutes - too bad!
I'm not very skilled in installation routines myself, but the activation process seemed to me to be unnecessarily complicated - as i said, just my impression...
