    cheers! registry hacks-r-us! did the trick. i did report it as a bug to Google so hopefully this make the adjustment in the next patch or version.

    so... the Google bug people pointed me to a feature: in the preferences -> work space is a button to "reset work space"

    Partial selecting would certainly help...but it does seem like a recent problem....Ive been using this function constantly since it was first introduced way back in version? without much trouble.

    Well, that plugin indeed places those bars to indicate that only what is not covered by the grey bars is going to be exported. I usually use it only in a copy of the file.

    It is not very easy to use this plugin with renderers. Some of them does not export the exact SU cameras as they are exported from SU itself. Without further tweaking of the camera settings, I have only had success with Twilight so far (but then of course I have not tried every rendering engines yet).

    Most (or at least many) renderers have panoramic (360d) export options however. They are neat but this usually needs much system memory (to create an acceptably large panorama - note that you usually only see about 1/4 of the image while the rest is "behind you").

    I guess if it is a dedicated card (i.e. there is a slot for it to insert), you can replace it. Of course slots are also different by time.

    I am having similar Nvidia driver issues. 285.62 on SLI GTX 580's. SU works fine (but slooow) with hardware acceleration, Fast Feedback unchecked. As soon it is switched back on SU freezes (entire computer) within one or two minutes. I have even tried setting up a custom program control in Nvidia's control panel under 3D settings, adding Sketchup to the programs list and customizing based on other users successful use of Quatro settings. NO LUCK. It is my understanding that Nvidia, at least at one time had been certified for use with Sketchup?

    Aside from waiting for a new driver, any suggestions?

    I see this all the time, t's down to mesh triangulation when you have cut in your 'decals'. You could try re-smoothing the mesh.

    What I'm doing is setting up a follow me along an arc. The arc length is always in whole degrees and the segments of the extrusion must also be whole degrees. Now at first thought you might say "So what's the problem with breaking the line then?" and while that's a fair question the answer is this: The follow me extrusion along an arc begins and ends by twisting the profile face -- the edges closest to the centerpoint of the arc twist outwards so the total length along the arc is long and those furthest from the center point twist inward and so are too short. I have to fix both ends to get the correct dimensions. IMO a very serious bug. On the extruded end I extrude for a greater length than needed and then go back and trim the excess. The broken lines across the arc is where the trim is going to be. Back at the profile face I have to set it up so the face has depth behind it and I use the end points of the two sides to figure out how to fix that end.

    The entire set of manual fixes are: The extrusion has 20 faces so that's... umm, what... 22 lines to fix where the face starts... the broken line across the arc... setting up a face along the broken line to use for the intersect... drawing another line further along the arc than needed so the extrusion goes past the intersect face... doing the intersect selected for the extrusion and the trim face... and all cleanup of the stuff I entered but no longer need. Can you say STUPID MAKE WORK SOFTWARE? I can.

    I'd complain bitterly to Google if I was using the pro software but as I'm not I deal with it as best I can.

    I am surprised the Nvidia is giving trouble. In the past I have only had troubles with ATI cards. If it helps I am currently using the Nvidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti with no issues what so ever running Windows 7/64.

    Thanks for the tips. I ended up just reinstalling the program and it seems to have sorted the problem out.

    Strange that it started happening though... It was stalling and quitting even if I flipped a single box. It was sketchup 8.0.4810.

    yes, in most cases 3D application will show you what kind of graphic adapter you have on board. that's some sort of ways to test your graphic adapter capabilities actually. especially when you are buying or upgrading your pc.
    i can see that you are using ATI.

    Nothing other than my cursor changes to a gray arrow instead of black and the program stop responding to any mouse or keyboard action, until I hit esc.

    Task manager claims sketchup is responding the whole time.

    After I hit esc. the program comes back to life.

    Vertial bar size has to match. That's what I think.

    Also earlier sketchup horz toolbar can't wrap and if you do you get strange results. Make sure sketchup window is size right.

    I just noties that the latist SU 8 m2 works just find for wraping. Maybe it's a greyout condition.

    πŸ˜• ' **Weld**' has nothing to do with ' Group'.
    In Sketchup there are Edges [aka 'lines'] - sometimes these are made 'bound' into 'Curves' - typically 'Arcs', or a fully looped 'Arc' which is then called a 'Circle'.
    However, any collection of Edges bound end-to-end can become a 'Curve'.
    A Curve is identified by the way it extrudes with PushPull into a form with 'smoothed' arises.
    There are some specific scripts to make special 'Curves' like Beziers...
    A long time ago Rick Wilson made a tool that takes a collection of such Edges and makes a Curve out of them [if it can].
    It is called **weld.rb**.
    It is installed as a script that you put into the Plugins folder.
    On restart you get the tool 'Weld' that will make preselected Edges into a Curve...
    Many tools require Curves to be selected for them to work - if these are not 'out-of-the-box' Arcs then you need to ' weld' them - e.g. Chris Fullmer's 'ShapeBender' or many of my 'EEby...' tools...

    Oh, yeah... πŸ˜‰ and weld.rb is freely available from http://www.Smustard.com [use Find > weld] ...

    An indispensable tool for any serious Sketchupper...

    It's not a display issue. I can be in a model previously made and do push pull on any EXISTING face. If I do a new face I cannot do push pull on it. It acts like a move tool and the whole face, polylines and all just move up / down / sideways. And I have updated both video and mouse drivers.

    I sent the model to a friend and he has no problem doing push pull on a face I can't.

    I have the first version of 8 on a laptop and I can work it just fine on that. My computer was shutdown when we had a power loss and that may have corrupted the file but I don't think this is it. I have re-installed 8 to no avail.

    There must be some common issue with all the versions I have becuae all my versions, V6, V7, and V8 act the same way.
