Gallen Attached is concept for you; Your op model is very non-symmetrical, selected the planar face you have; Used Chris Fullmers shape bender to create what I guessed you may want; Made a mirror copy so some symmetry is now present; Use Freedos curivloft to make faces Handcycle mockA.skp

Start with a simple three-button mouse. Get proficient with it before you spend money on a fancy one.

Funny it seems to have stopped doing it now but the pop up was concerning customising the tool bar as though you right click the mouse. But as i said it seems to have stopped for the moment, I had to select by gently clicking on the extreme left of the mouse. But hey ho lets hope its back to normal again for good. Many thanks for all your replies Grumpygrum

If you make your window component with gluing/cutting behaviors, and its blue axis matches the wall face's normal [automatic if component is made on a face initially], then it'll 'cut' a hole in the face onto which you initially place an instance of it [at least if it's in the same 'context'] My "HolePunchTool" lets you punch a real hole in a multi-skinned wall, and then that 'hole' selects/moves with the associated cutting component. http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=HolePunchTool

@Dave R - Thanks for the additional info. That explains a lot. The 3DS model came from my sister's copy of HGTV Home Design Suite. I exported the drawing from there into a 3DS file, then imported that into SU. I thought that would work great, but apparently, something got munged either during the export or import. Or the exporter/importer doesn't work so well. Well, hopefully not all is lost. I also exported DXF files, so maybe I can use them to build the house. And if that doesn't work, well... then I get to re-create the whole bloody thing manually. Thanks for the advice, guys.

As has been said... you need solids to 'subtract'. However, the fix in this case is easier still... Select the top and edit it. Select the top face and use Context-menu > Intersect > with Model. The sink now cuts a 'ring' in the top. Select the top's face inside the sink and <delete> Done. The sink now has a matching hole in the top...

Thanks for the help, Just thought I'd come back and post as i now have the issue fixed. Turns out that due to a previous install of Sketchup, there were hidden files in appdata. I had removed all of the files that I could find that related to sketchup but I had to instruct the computer to show hidden files. Thanks again

Try turning on Hidden Geometry. That will make some of the bad stuff show. It might just be easier to start over on the model.

Same problem for me (I’m using SketchUp 2015 and OS Yosemite too): I can't delete "the last one material" as shown in the gif. In addition, I’m using the last version of V-Ray for SketchUp and, every time I add a new material on the scene (e.g. “Metal_Satin”), when I look into the V-Ray Material Editor, I find 3 materials instead of one (e.g “Metal_Satin”, “Metal_Satin_1” and “Metal_Satin_2”) with the same specs (..like they were a copy / duplicate materials). It’s really annoying thing seeing that on the SketchUp Model there is only one material! Anyone has spotted the same problem?

Thank you. In searching for a mirror function, it never occurred to me to look for the word "flip". Thanks for the info.

hi, thanks for your patience and care. unfortunately each step is slightly different, due to curved stringers, therefore the triangular patters will be different on left and right side of the stringers. i think the stairs are consistent, so i have to try your tip to make one cut-out, and try duplicating it along sides. a great idea!
