How to import .stl files into SKP from Meshmixer

Hi All,
I am working on a large complex file in sketchup. I can't get all the parts to join together as a solid so I can 3d print it, so I imported it into Meshmixer. I saved it as an .stl. Now I want to open this file in Sketchup. I figured I would just hit import, but that does not work. It shows no files available in the folder where the .stl files I created in Meshmixer are.
Any ideas on how to import an .stl file or what I am doing wrong?Thanks.

You need a plugin for STL-import, e.g. http://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/sketchup-stl

did you try 'scaling up' your groups before intersecting?
you can possibly avoid the need to export to meshmixer...

Thanks for response Cotty. Something is still not working.
I had sketchup-stl already, and did an update just now to "sketchup-stl-2.1.5.rbz".
Here is what works:
When I export a file into .stl, I choose "file, export .stl" and that works.
Here is what I can't figure out:
I was expecting the sequence for importing an .stl file would be to select "file, import .stl", but there is no "import .stl" option.
Any idea what I need to do to make this work?

if you select the regular import... stl should now be one of you file type options...

When you have the su_ STL toolset installed from the EW... you'll get:
File > Export STL...
to make the STL file from the current Model's SKP.
If you then choose:
File > Import > choose file-type STL
you import the chosen STL into the current Model... -
