Thank you for finally uploading the file. The problem, as Peter alludes to, is that you have the Light and Dark shadow sliders crossed up and Dark is set so high that shadows won't show on white. What is it you are trying to achieve with the sliders set as they are? If you set the Dark slider down to 78 or less, shadows should start to appear on the white face. If you set the texture to be projected, then eyedropper sampling it allows you to paint with it as many times as you want. But if you go out of that mode it's a plain texture again when picked off the list. Re-eyedropper sample from a projected one to repeat later...

Thanks for your guidance. Yes, I have done that reading and get the concept. I guess it is a problem that I am working from CAD with contour lines that cross the property line (which is at 0). I trimmed all the contours at the property line, but when the "from contours" makes the terrain, it is just slightly different, not exactly the same shape for as built versus existing, when I look in plan view. So I guess I need to enter z values around the edge of the park/property line. I will keep working. Thanks.

How are you adding components? Do you mean you are downloading them from the 3D Warehouse? If so, you should open them in a separate file and clean them up including getting rid of unwanted layers before putting them into your main model.

There isn't anything that will round off all the corners in one step but once you've rounded one with the 2-Point Arc tool, you just double click in the other corners and repeat the operation. I forgot to mention I hid the lines between each adjoining surface. Once I unhid the adjoining line the surfaces extruded properly, without re-orientation.

Thanks for everybody for suggestions/tips. I will need to do some testing. I was also thinking that maybe I will try to take the created geometry to Blender and test if I can use Blender for making the whole with soft edges.
