I meant the text to be idion, not you Anyway, you can open these files simply with a text editor like Notepad (never with a word processor like Word or something!). But the easies way is to right click > save as > and navigate to your Program files / Google / Google SketchUp <version number here> / Plugins directory and save it with an rb extension (IE might not ad this automatzically). Never change the file name though! Then restart SU and (depending where the script registeres itself) you can find it somewhere in the menu system (mostly under Plugins but some go to the Draw or Edit menus or to the right click menu).

Allyson, You can save your Excel data in three columns (x,y,z) as a '.csv' (comma-separated-values) file. Excel produces a text file containing your x,y,z data. The .csv file can be imported into SketchUp, by use of Didier Bur's 'Cloud_V6' plugin, available here: http://www.crai.archi.fr/RubyLibraryDepot/Ruby/en_fil_page.htm Note that this plugin will create a guidepoint at each x,y,z location. It can 'skin' the surface, if it's relatively horizontal (such as a topographic surface.) If you have any vertical faces, or 'bottom' faces, or vertices that are 'stacked' over another, the skinning won't work properly. I use the plugin to import vertices for geodesic spheres, and manually connect the data points with the 'line' tool. [image: iCW5_Epcot_Spaceship_Earth.png] If you have faces that are vertical, or 'beyond' vertical (undercut,) you likely will have to do some manual line connections yourself. Hopefully, this method will give you the start you need. Taff

Hi Gaieus, sorry not having expplained the problem. In fact as very often it was related to the hardware acceleration. After disabling it all was OK. Graphic card was ATI radeon hd 2600 and under Vista.

The view will be (to my eyes) completely flat with no shading when in the shadow settings dialog you slide the dark slider to 100 and the light slider to 0 and turn "Use sun for shading" on. Anssi

You might need to explode the imported linework, as well. just select it->right click->explode. You can then run the make faces plugin ( http://www.smustard.com/script/MakeFaces ) to make faces (surprise surprise) that can be push pulled.

The easiest way to get a solid look is to set your back face colour to solid black. Anssi

@ianclaytonv9pih said: Many thanks -- It worked. However I have a Mac and no right click on my mouse. How can I get to the explode menu? If I remember right, on the Mac you control-click to get the context menu. If you are using a Mighty Mouse instead of an old-style one-button mouse, it can be configured to right-click from the mouse control panel (it has two front buttons under the hood, they are just set the same. Also, pressing the scrolling ball can be made to activate Orbit instead of the Dashboard (who uses that anyway?) Anssi
