Pop-down the list of file-types in the bottom pane of the main 3d-export dialog, select DXF as the type and then select Options to refine what you export... then 'OK'...
Sorry for the mis understanding ,I have exported all of the above from the drop down menu, but for some reason Corel is being touch sensitive and will not open these files from the 3D export option, only from 2d export!! So I am wondering if the problem is when importing in my Older CorelDraw version 8.... Hope I dont sound completely idiotic but I do have some knowledge in the use of these programs here is a link I found of someone with a similar issue with broken line segments http://coreldraw.com/forums/t/18356.aspx maybe my problem is on the import of the file from Corel! The communication between programs Im guessing!! Thanks TIG! John

@dave r said: Hi Bently, Nice to see you here. Long time, no chat. Thanks Dave, Been doing well, work is good at the moment. I've surely missed your tutorials, (like a lost sheep wondering around on the plain) lol Glad to be here. I've already figured out a few of my questions just by looking around. I'll try to be a little more active as soon as I figure out the workings of the site.

Your elevation ticks are way under sampled. There are many curves that can fit the data( plan view) you have presented. If you want just a picture then what Dave has shown is great but if its use is for some real world application then you will have to establish some criteria on the spacing of you elevation samples and usually based on some type of rms error etc.

The only complication is if you open a SKP file with v8 that you later want to use in v7 you must have done a v8 'save_as v7' for it be be usable in v7 afterwards........

If the plugin doesn't run, there are two likely problems. Either it isn't installed correctly or you haven't got IE installed. If you want to try to use it, let me know by PM and I'll help. As to board dimensions--I assume you are referring to sheet materials--there may be an option we can try. If you've already given up on it, I won't bother.

No problem Sam. Welcome to SCF! Kerkythea is a good choice. Very powerful and if you get to grips with it you'll find other render apps much more forgiving. I never invested enough time with it. But I've got it's new commercial brother Thea and it's incredible. Anyway, enjoy what we've on offer around here and don't forget to thanks all those generous plugin guys for there efforts.

@tig said: Try adjusted_normal=face.normal.transform!(group.transformation) where 'group' is the container of the circle-'face' on the end? Sorry for digging up an old topic, but will this work with nested groups/component instances? normal = entity.normal i = 0 path_to_entity.each {|entity| i +=1 break if i >= path_to_entity.length normal = normal.transform! (entity.transformation) } Or does transform represent a transformation from the models axes? (ie, just require normal = normal.transform! (entity.transformation) Just for background, I'm trying to get a model based vector of the face normal as in peterjohnson84's example

Hi maxius, You can also use Tgi3D SU Amorph plugin (http://www.Tgi3D.com) to create curved surfaces. It has also a free Training Edition with a limit on the number of vertices in the mesh. Below examples are created with the free Training edition, the resolution can actually go a bit higher but after a certain number of vertices in the mesh you would have to use the commercial version. You simply select a closed loop and use “Create Mesh” command. This command creates the “smoothest” surface that fits the boundary. In the latest version, released two days ago, there is also an option to create “clean Bezier surface”. You would have to convert the boundaries to Bezier curves first. In the example below the one on the left is created with regular mesh and the one on the right is Bezier surface. [image: doqc_plane.jpg]

@steveandbelinda said: Okay, only additional thing that now shows up in the plugins dropdown is Chris Fulmers shape bender (which I can't seem to get to work, probably me). Neither angle_between.rb, or plane_angle.rb show up anywhere. Sorry guys, but I do appreciate the help. Steve As I thought I'd explained.... scripts like 'angle_between' and 'plane_angle' WON'T necessarily "show up" - they are used by other tools - just because you have a script loading it doesn't mean you'll get a menu item - in fact some scripts can load more than one menu item whilst others provide 'support' for other scripts 'anonymously' and others only appear on context-menus or must be run by typing their specific command into the Ruby Console........

Hi, There was a tutorial about importing SU models into Oblivion somewhere on the web that included SU Pro, 3D Studio Max and Nif Tools Exporter for 3DMax. Alternatively, you can use Blender instead of Max and Blender NifTools, but AFAIK, there is no such plugin for SU.

A component file that is inserted into a model, loses its relationship to the original file. If you change a component within a model, the file will not change unless you save the component to that file. If however the component is the model, when quiting, you will be given the option to update the file.

Hi Josh and welcome! SU was originally not designed to work with extremely large models (both polygon and extent) but there are lots of landscape designers using it, too. You will experience difficulties if you want to populate your models with lots of detailed, 3D entourage so you will need to find a workflow to avoid that but otherwise it can be a nice program.
