This is a display issue that can occur with some graphic chips if you have ' %(#000000)[Maximum texture size]' (in Preferences) and ' %(#000000)[Use Anti-Aliased Textures]' (in Model Info) turned on at the same time. Since the anti-alising setting is only stored per model (so you find models on the Internet where it's turned on), it makes sense to globally turn off the maximum texture size.

Hi Ralph, hi folks. @ralphxyz said: Hey Johnny (Jean Lemire), I hope you do not mind if I hack (reuse) your skp tutorial layout. Of course, hack it to your heart content. You will probably find that its is very easy to create your own multi scenes tutorials from scratch. Read below. @ralphxyz said: Of course I'll need to learn how to add and remove tabs but that will come with usage. Ralph Read the help about Scenes. You can create scenes with View Menu --> Animation --> Add Scene. This will create Scene 1 with its tabon top of the model window. Then, with a right click on this tab, you obtain a context menu allowing adding scenes, deleting the current scene, updating it, etc. You also get an access to the Scene Manager which allows you a lot of control about many parameters. Just ideas.

You have (probably) installed a 64bit version of Windows 8. Explorer can only use thumbnailers of the same architecture (64bit x86). You need an alternative thumbnailer, search the forum there are different solutions available (Mystic Thumbs, ruby scripts etc.).

I can not believe , just uninstall that plugin, along with others who did not use both. To others, I never understood how to use it well, to function in the plugin you mean? The other thing I can think of is some plugin or method of doing something like the intersection option. Something?

How many surfaces does a piece of glass have anyway? Since SketchUp is a surface modeler doesn't it make sense that you would wind up with a surface on the inside and one on the outside? If you don't want a surface on the inside, don't draw one.

Thanks to the three of you for your offers of help. Jean Lemire sent an illustrated procedure that cured my mistakes.

Hi Panji, hi folks. Of course, plugins will save you time but, if you want to try with basic tools, click in sequence on the scenes tabs of this SU file for ideas. Horn throat.skp

Just to say thanks again and let you know that using the Line Tool made it very easy. I did it for one half of the plate then flipped and joined. Here is the final plate : [image: CoilSupportPlate_zps98c6a209.png] Thanks, DC.

No problem As Rich says you need to avoid n-gons and stick to quads and tris.

Yes, please post your model, or at least some adequate screenshots. Have you checked if Edges are activated in your View menu?

You could also take a look at the plugin Artisan. It has a poly reduction tool (and lots more).

Wow Jean, thanks so much. That is a great tutorial. Luckily we are having winter weather, unlike last year, so I am able to spend some good time just playing with , oh er, I mean working with SketchUp 8 Pro. Your method would work with the free version and Pro, one of the reasons I went with Pro was the "Solid Tools" specifically for the Subtract method of which I have a new challenge. I just posted a new question about Holeshttp://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=79&t=50714&e=0. My top surface has some bumps so I cannot just push object one through object two, or I would have to know how to make some dimples on the top inside surface. Thanks once again Jean. Ralph
