    • Print out walls of a project possible?

      Hi all,

I have a rather detailed model of a house. I want to be able to recreate this house using matte board. I would like to be able to print out the walls separately onto paper, cut it out and paste it onto the matte board to be cut. So, is there a way to layout all the walls of a model and print them out? I'm using the free version of Sketchup.

      Thank you.

    • Flattening complex model for laser cutting

      Hi all,

Is there a plugin or a feature in Sketchup that will allow for the flattening of all walls, windows, doors (at least walls) of a complex model? Or will this need to be done manually?

I want to model some complex models, lay out the walls, windows, etc. in 2D and prep for laser cutting.

EDIT: I was thinking if there was something that would do this with all walls, at least, in a single pass.

      Thank you!

    • RE: GREETINGS!

      ah, okay.

BIM is building information modeling. in architecture packages (advanced) you are able to place a wide variety of information concerning that component of the structure such as its properties, location, spatial information, etc. Literally be able to click on a wall for example and it tells you what materials are there, price of the chosen material used, etc.

Is there anything resembling this in Sketchup?

      Thanks.

    • GREETINGS!

      Hi all,

I'm a computer studies teacher planning to introduce a new architecture/interior design course at a private school i teach.

Thought about Vectorworks, but more and more interested in Sketchup (it's free for education! ๐Ÿ˜„). Anyone know of any curriculum for HS aged students?

Anyway, still exploring and looking to see if BIM is possible with Sketchup.

Hope to learn a lot within the next few months before deciding what software to use for our school program.
