@i5963c I would say it is a bug, although it is likely been this way forever. Check the SketchUp API tracker at GitHub to see if it has been reported yet. The GUI 3D Text tool puts the resultant text geometry within a component context. This way it can be moved around, rotated, etc. The API use of Entities.add_3d_text should also be inserting into a component or group context. This context can also have subgroups. So the workaround is to apply a transitional transform to the "g" subgroup and align it. Unfortunately, the vertical text alignment constants are for drawing text to the view for tools and overlays. So they will not apply to 3D text.

Every SketchUp release includes bug fixes. As Rich indicates it might be related to an extension. Are these Bug Splats you are experiencing a recent thing? Can you identify what change in your computer might have happened right before you started seeing the Bug Splats? Obviously SketchUp 2017 hasn't changed in 8 years. You could disable all of the extensions and see if you still get Bug Splats. If not, enable half of them and see if there's a change. If so it's probably one of those extensions. If not, enable half of the remaining ones and check again. It could also be related to graphics drivers or operating system updates. If that's the case rolling back to a version from before when the Bug Splats started would be the next step. What operating system are you using? Keep in mind that your computer is evolving out from under SketchUp 2017 Make. I presume you are using it as a hobbyist so it may not be a big deal that you have to deal with Bug Splats but for those who any software professionally, it's important to decide whether you are going to keep the applications updated to the supported operating system and other applications or if you're going to prevent the computer from getting updates in order to stick with the OS supported by the applications.

Isn't triangulation of all faces a native feature when you export your Sketchup model to Collada? Normally, it should be available behind the 'Options...' button in the Sketchup 'Export Model' dialog. Next, there are indeed separate extensions that offer similar functionality, but these may be beyond your needs. So, best is to start with the out-of-the-box feature, and see how it works for your specific requirements.

Hello Thom and Forum. Maybe it is too late, but I never succeed installing solid inspector in my SU 8 pro. My laptop is the old one windows 7 64 bit with 2 GB RAM, and it was enough for my daily works. The oldest version found at github is v1.2.0 I read somewhere that v1.1.0 could be work ? an what is the TT_lib version for that. But where is it, can not find that file. Please help Many Thanks !

BTW, all these private dna screening services that are going around? Do you really think the data is out of bounds to insurance companies? Do you really think that it is not being used to develop policy and pricing strategies for the future? Wow.

@neverpoint Hi: Most of the spline commands can generate a face when they are closed: [image: 1755244489901-spline_face.gif] If this is not the case, select the spline and type in the Ruby console: spline=Sketchup.active_model.selection[0] # will return something like => #<Sketchup::Edge:0x000001a70b1968e8> face = spline.find_faces # will return something like => 1 (1 being the number of face(s) created or simply redraw a segment of the spline and the face will also be created. I saw this my immediate thought tha having a two car garage in this day and age would be a practical but quickly realised that having a double garage door on the frontage would not work with the proportions of a Craftsman home. Very nicely done mate you nailed this
