Have you had a look at S4U StairMaker (currently V5)? Note: it's not free, purchase link in the description of the extension, currently going for $25 I believe.

That can be useful although you then need to either escape or undo the label if you don't want to leave it there.

The PNG has black to white values. Pure black is no height and pure white is highest point.

Displace a subdivided mesh using this PNG as the driver for the height. Your subdivided mesh should match the pixel density to the PNG to get accurate results.

What about Sketchups own Advanced camera tools ?

So you can look under User/App Data/Roaming/SketchUp... for materials folders. Or you might just try running a search for all folders with "material" in the name.

you can set up multiple trays simultaneously. So I made a tray for layers only and one for materials only. Whatever tray is active as soon as I click "B" the material tray moves to the front. This way I avoid to scroll too much, instead of having all the used windows together in just the default tray.
I prefer this method, if I just work on the small laptop monitor for example...

In addition, you can decide whether you want to have individual trays flowing as single windows on the screen (like in older SkUp versions) or if you want to combine these trays as shown below.

Maybe you didn't restart SketchUp at first, thus no changes in the behavior.
Once you restarted the program (at certain time) you'd notice changes from turning off 'Use hardware acceleration. Just a guess.

To see if this is true, enable 'Use hardware acceleration' again and restart SketchUp. Do you have the same display issue again? If so, find another driver for your graphics card to better support OpenGL.
Why? You do want to benefit working with that card (and not just the CPU) to run SketchUp at full speed.

In spin view, the "camera" is moved so the scene changes and you get a "different" image in each scene.

In spin object, the camera position never changes so, even though you see the object rotate, the "scene" doesn't. To get the desired results, you need to save the image to a file after each rotation step.

I have updated the Spin_It plugin on my blog to give you the option of creating the image files for Spin View and Spin Object. Works best for me on SU8. For some reason, on SU2013, the view doesn't get updated between each step.

It differs in that you first predefine a line around your object for site grader to adjust the terrain to (oh and the line doesn't have to be on the same plane), and then you set/adjust the grader width; in the image above I tried several widths until I was happy with 4metres.

The stamp tool by comparison (while it has it's uses) is a very blunt instrument.
