Does anyone have a copy of the former PPG glass material? I found the metal online but not the glass material skp, I have it on my other computer 200 miles away, but not on my laptop. The company that took over PPG Glass only offers one model for each style, not the multitude that is available with the original file. I checked the 3D warehouse PPG is listed but no models are present.

Maj Stair questions
I really like Maj Stair for making simple straight stairs, however after watching a few videos illustrating how to make something like an L-shaped stair, I have had no success. Is there someone here that uses this plugin and can help me out?

RE: Model slow to save
I tried the Window Model info Statistics, purge all unused., We will see Thanks!

Model slow to save
I have one particular model that takes way longer to save than most of the others, and some of the others are far more complex.
Is there a way (plugin) to identify what the issue is, and then allow me to correct it? -
Maj rail question
Today I tried to make some railings, when I worked on the left side of my model, the perpendicular offset worked great, but on the right side, I would get an error by trying a negative offset. When I watched a video about the plugin the offset correctly worked on both sides of the stairs. I managed to make it work by putting a 2" guide to the left from the right side of the stairs. Kind of a hassle though.

Stair maker
I use two plugins for making stairs, S.D. (Sam) mitch stair maker and stair concrete. For the most part, they do what I need. My problem with Sam's stair maker is that if you are making a "U" or "L" stair, the landing has to be in the middle of the stair count. For example, if you have a 16 tread stair at a 7" rise, and try to put the landing anywhere but 8 steps, the rise changes. Of course, I can modify the stairs to work, but it takes a lot of time. I can build stairs totally manually, but again there is the time factor.
The most current plugins do way more than I need, like GK Ware and Maj Stair. Mainly my stairs are simple commercial types with simple steps and rectangular steel stringers.
A plug-in that would do those would be handy.Just tossing this out there to see what happens, have a great Sunday!

Texture/Material "spy"
Is there a plugin for identifying a texture or material, that can be used in the main window, instead of the eyedropper tool in the materials tray? Something similar to the material replacer dialog, but just for ID purposes.

RE: Area of entity
@dave r said:
As it has always been, area is only shown in Entity Info if you have a face or faces selected.
Please update your profile. It shows you are still using SketchUp 2013.
Profile updated and I found the area, thanks Dave, Merry Christmas!

Area of entity
Not exactly new to SketchUp, I have been using it since 2008 or so, however, I am new to SU2021 Pro, the latest version I had was 2017 before upgrading. I found out that the layers are now called Tags but in the entity info "area" is missing. Is this gone or just hiding?

I've used this n the past because you can download RAW file that a 32bit. Even to default PNG can give good results depending on how distant you are....

I downloaded a png, there must be more to this?

What is it you actually need and in what area? How will the data get used?
Out place in the Nebraska panhandle, I am doing some virtual scenes of what I want to do.

Finding usable DEMS in this day and age
I know this has been discussed before, I have been using Cadmapper to get my DEMS, it works OK but getting exactly what you want is difficult, without a satellite view to go by.
I just spent the past hour or so trying to find what I want on the USGS site nothing that will work with SU2017 make.
Ideas for other sources? -
Camera positioning
I am looking for a way to position a camera to emulate the view from a modelled security camera, something that would allow a user selectable field of view. I looked at Thom Thom's position camera, in the info I read it is compatible with Windows and Mac, and pretty much any version of SU above 2014.
However when I go top install the plugin I get a dialog that indicates that it is not compatible with Windows on SU2017. I can position a camera view that is a decent approximation of what I want to see, using native tools, but something more precise would be handy. -
RE: Camera along a path
I found the info via the Sketchucation store, I like what I am seeing, it reminds me of sketchy physics, even though it is a totally new app. I remember spending hours working with SP

My recommendation is MSPhysics with its endless possibilities of camera settings:
http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=323&t=68975There are references to MS physics in the link you provided, also there are references to Anton S, however neither MSphysics or Anton are found in a search

Camera along a path
At some point, in the past, I believe, there was an extension/plugin, with which you could, track a preselected path with a camera, it was a huge improvement of the existing walk with camera, option within SU. I seem to remember you could draw your path and set camera parameters, such as height and the camera point of view/field of view.
Did something like this ever actually exist, or does something like this currently exist? -
RE: Accurate wall spacing in an array of walls
Thanks that is what I ended up doing in this case, but now at least I have a reference/reminded to go by, thanks Dave

Accurate wall spacing in an array of walls
I don't know why I can't get this right, maybe over thinkinking it? I usually figure it out, but I can never remember what I did to make it work. I have an area between two exterior walls, I want to place 5 walls in this space, but space between those walls, needs to be the same, it is right on the ends but smaller in the middle.I have tried using guides that are spaced equidistant, and centering the interior walls on those guides, same issue as before, the different is usually the thickness or a fraction of the thickness of the interior walls.
What am I missing? -
RE: Bending a shape
Thanks guys, I remembered seeing something, but couldn't remember where/what.

Bending a shape
Last night I was trying to make a square, about 48" long, after messing around quite a while, I managed to use a curve and a entity of the shape I wanted. I was thinking there has to be a better way. Here is what I wanted to do, take an entity such as a square block, bend it about 12.5 degrees, in the center, but the bend has to be curved, not sharp.
Any plugins that will do this?
