Nice composition and style Edson, the only thing that I think needs improvement is the overall color. You can apply curves and hue/saturation in Photoshop to improve and highlight some areas in your design. allanx

It seems to me that the only way a plugin could crash SU when using the native dwg import is by using observers. Can anyone think of any other way?

@seven.sides said: This is a very nice image, has a good colour balance and feel to it. Enough contrast but not overdone. The birds flying over bring the scene to life. I've often thought a still render could be enhanced by animated elements such as this as a kind of short animation clip, maybe that loops. thanks, seven.

If you use autotoilet at all, you should use the snap functions. But, just because you can preset automatic snap to intersection, endpoint, midpoint, apparent intersection, and so on, having too many of these running is where the problem arises. There are instances where you may be in a hurry, and clicking just so, will confuse the program. It will send a vector off into either Z+ or Z-, but look like it connected with the target, and the problem becomes cumulative. In the 2007 and up versions there is a properties side window, by which you can modify a lot of values. Doing a box select without an initial command will display the grips. Expanding the properties side window will allow you to step through the entities types to verify their start and end values, their z values and so on. You can overwrite or edit in some of the fields.--Just another method.

@tig said: It looks like you have a [hidden] file called ".rb" that is trying to add a menu item [unsuccessfully] ? Or perhaps " .rb" ? Can you look in the Plugins and Tools folders [showing hidden files] to see if there is one - if not it's plan B... Have you accidentally mis/renamed a file ? thanks, TIG. I did find a file named .rb that seems to be part of thomthom‘s UV Toolkit. I will PM him on this matter.

Hatch faces and Perpendicular to face, done. I'll check to make sure it works, and then work with the authors to see how to post the new scripts. See that's the thing, I still don't know if they have to make two different versions just for that quirk. I know how it works on the Mac, and I presume the originals work fine on PC (although I'm not sure if they present the same quirk or not, which again is not a bug). and I have no mean to test the modified one on PC to see if it still works just fine (or better). Thus I have scripts that work on mac for sure, but that's it. (and sometimes there are other issues, notably the modifer keys, popup menus, amongst others that make it that I think it's simpler to have two versions anyway)

Looks like we need a Sonder method thread. On my iPad... When I get to my computer will add a link. He uses two LO references superimposed AFAIK. Edit: See below. I guess that actually IS the Sonder Method thread.

I use a program called Print2CAD that's pretty good. But there are no magic bullets out there - you still have to do some work. The converted document will have a lot of very screwy lines and the vector data won't be very accurate.

Hi Edson, Yes I agree, tak2hata BST plugin is very useful for concrete building. I've been using the same Wall tool quite a while. And it also adjustable on the thickness. The RC Column probably need adjustment, but need to edit the profile to do that. House Builder still good for wooden structure I guess. I hope someone will take the initiative to improve either one. BST might have a good chance to improve, since tak2hata still around and quite active in the forum. Let's just hope so.

Most of the projects I do in LayOut are dimensioned drawings of furniture for others to build from. I would use dimensions on perspective views more if I didn't need to use this work around. As you say, for a few it's not so bad. I wind up using mostly tags for dimensions in perspective views instead. Let's hope the next version of LO would be able to create these dimensions automatically.

Most of the Sketchup 'scripts' that come as standard - like 'skethcup.rb' - are located in the 'Tools' folder. This includes the 'extensions' and 'langauge-handler' scripts, and the 'DC' and 'Sandbox' stuff too... In the base-set that comes in Plugins there is a set of 'Examples' scripts in a subfolder of that name - with 6 example scripts like 'linetool.rb' and 'box.rb' - these are made as 'extensions' and need to be activated - these are setup by 'examples.rb' that's found inside Plugins There is also a 'Utilities' subfolder containing the 'utilitiestools.rb' extension if it's activated - this is setup by 'utilities.rb' that's found inside Plugins. There's also an 'Ocean' subfolder and its file setup by the Plugins's 'ocean_extension.rb', which again needs to be activated... This base set of 'plugins' does not add any tools to the Plugins menu, so a virgin installation will not display a Plugins menu until at least one other 3rd party script is loading that is coded to display there.

Except in cases where the clean up after a conventional intersect operation would take a long time, I prefer to use Intersect. The example I used with the Google guys was a table drawn with separate parts like I always draw them. I would make a leg component, copy and flip it for the other three legs. Then draw the aprons and stretchers between them. Once the model look right, I'll go back and insert the joinery. I could draw the tenons on the ends of the aprons and use Subtract to cut the adjoining mortise. Of course that converts the leg to a group and the mortises are not cut on the other legs. If I want to maintain the related nature of the legs, I have to make the group back into a component with a new name and then replace the other leg components with the new name. If I want to use the original name I'll purge the In Model components library and then rename the new leg component to the original name. Or, I could open one leg component for editing, trace the base of the tenon with the Rectangle tool, push the inside in and have mortises in all four legs.
