I have done various types of detailing for wood assemblies that require custom metal brackets/plates/etc.
I have used clipping masks to give a "close up" of the part(s).
Maybe that is something you could incorporate? (please see "snapshot" in below .pdf)

      Best regards,

Thought I would throw it in here if anyone wants to use it as something to start from and see what you can make of it.

      Thanks Box,

You inspired me to at least try: SubD...Vertex tools & Quad face tools.
I think I made a sufficient mess of your cartoon man.(see Non-SubD .skp)

I learned enough today, to know I need to research some more, before learning/forming any really bad habits.

      Best regards,
      Charlie

PS/FYI...SubD file too large to upload

Non SubD due to file limit

    • RE: Rotation question

      Jerry,
Perhaps creating a railing set at a mean ° that you can scale using FredoScale(free plug-in): "Box Planar Shearing" would be a solution?.(see .skp below)

This method will maintain all vertical rail parts 100%, and only slightly alter the raked parts as long you are scaling ± within a few degrees of the mean° default rail set.

I used "target mode" while having "Box Planar Shearing" selected to alter the mean°(38.5°) rail set to parallel the new stair set(37.8°).

It will take a little practice to get used to FredoScale, but just experiment and see if it suits your needs.

      Best Regards,
      Charlie

    • RE: [Plugin] Animator - v4.5a - 22 Jul 25

      fredo,

      Per latest Beta release:

Cameras: Still views, Scene views, Tracking camera, all with "fade-out"

Q: Is the "fade out" camera related or content related? (Please indulge me as I am not well versed)

That said......and to attempt to further clarify.....what would "fade out".......items/content camera is "on" or would camera "fade out" or "close" focus in some way.

Again, many thanks for this awesome plug-in.

      Best regards,
      Charlie

Same error. It takes ~ 30 seconds for the tab to load, then it throws the error.

I thought it might be my browser extensions, but the problem persists even with extensions off.

I revised the length of the .gif as I experienced something similar on my Ipad.

So this is a test to see if it is due to a time issue. (see attached)

I will take down problem file if this resolves it.

      Charlie

      EDIT:
This version works fine on my IPad.
*Admin. Please let me know if you want problem file taken down or? (In case you want it to source problem)

      Filibis,
I have never used Unity, but perhaps changing the names of the materials (in Unity) after importing SU model "broke" the link to your SU model materials?
So, when Unity "updates" it now longer sees same material name/reference from SU and simply imports SU assigned materials again?

No I speak about "accelerate" an object above an open path... 😄

On the beautiful new plane animation by Charlie - seems plane has a constant speed!

      https://sketchucation.com/forums/download/file.php?id=147672&mode=view/rokbox.jpg

Thanks Pilou.......and yes.....speed is constant in my Plane video, though "delayed " using easing.

I have not yet experimented with increasing speed "acceleration" ...........yet 😄

      Charlie

      Edit: PS

Are your trying to gradually accelerate or just have immediate set speed along your path?

I.E.: x meter or foot per second immediate from beginning to end of path?

      Charlie,
Great job. I guess you used the Easing for simulating the take off. And nice utilization of the scaling for the parachute.

Thanks Fredo, I am truly honored!& yes I used easing. (see settings attachment)
But this is some form of magic that you do, so all credit to you!

      @fredo6 said:

One small thing: you could center the plane on the runway by moving the point of contact to be in the middle of the two wheels.

Hard to tell but path was in the center....I may have inadvertently moved it though.

Now you just have to build the landscape and include some views from the cockpit!

      fredo,
      Thank you, ....great plug-in!

Q: how to maintain object parallel to path when "helical"?

In first .gif I have SU path on single/flat plane, and all behaves as expected.
(I introduced 3 rotations: rear wheel lift just before take off and ± 60° rotations through curve(s)

In second .gif I have "elevated" the path to a "helical" type shape and the plane maintains +X axis "heading throughout path.
Is there a setting to force the plane to follow the path parallel?

(Ideally, replicate the action in first .gif in the "helical" type path of the second .gif)

      Thanks again,
      Charlie

Something else to be mindful of is how to protect yourself from unauthorized changes to your models or your work.

If you think you will still have a shot at future work with them, provide them with the .dwg equivalent of the .pdf they already paid for. (If that is what they only want)

If they insist on the .skp then put a number on it, and explain as Rich said, that is part of your process.

I think if they push back on that, then it is likely there would not be any future work anyway. (Nothing lost)
