@pbacot said: I prefer that the lines are true to paper space, and don't care how they look "zoomed out" This means that where the visible dash occurs in relation to rest of the drawing on screen is exactly where it will be when exported or printed. I often adjust dash lines for clarity. pbacot, I apreciate your reply and not because I agree with you. Unfortunate more haven’t chimed in on this, would have been nice to have more of a consensus. @dave r said: I believe there is a known bug related to this and I think the LO team is working on it. Until it gets fixed I would suggest using TIG's Section Cut Face instead of the Section Fill. [attachment=0:gsx0983f]<!-- ia0 -->Screenshot - 4_19_2018 , 10_27_54 AM.png<!-- ia0 -->[/attachment:gsx0983f] Thanks for having a look at this Dave. I have historically used TIG’s section cut face (& still do w/more complex cuts)......but with the SU 2018 new section fill and this being a “simple” drawing I used that feature instead. Didn’t even occur to me to check that for being the cause........anyhow.......now I am aware......so thanks again for that. Charlie

Sorta glad to hear others have concerns about this. One bit of info I can add to this is: If you are not keenly aware of “in model dimensions”, I could easily see someone setting an incorrect dimension and not even knowing it is wrong because the dimension tool really referenced the edge of the viewport and not the model geometry. Since it doesn’t throw erroneous dimension.....IOW dimension to edge of viewport seems to maintain set scale of model viewport. (Wish I knew of safe .gif recorder so I could upload demonstration) Charlie

Charlie, For a gate leg table, that's an interesting design with only four legs. As for the carving, I wonder if you might draw it flat as if you unwrapped it from the leg and then use Flowify to wrap it up. I would employ the "Dave Method" so you can run Flowify on a much larger scale. Since you have the table at hand you could get an idea of what the carving looks like flat by wrapping a piece of paper tightly around tand then do a rubbing with a wax crayon. That would also make it easier to get dimensions off the carving. Just a little nit picking on your model: I noticed you've got apron parts inside the leg components. That's not the best structure. [image: 1GyH_Screenshot-11_21_20176_14_15AM.png] [image: HySi_Screenshot-11_21_20176_15_20AM.png] With this arrangement, each discreet part is a component. Having a component nested with loose geometry can create problems for you. For example, if you wanted to create a cutlist from your model, the legs wouldn't appear in the list. By nesting them the way I have in the second image, the leg and the "Short hinge" will both appear. I have a drop leaf table that looks similar to yours although it isn't a gate leg and there's no carving on the legs. My grandparents acquired it in about 1938 and it was about 100 years old then. My father grew up eating at it as did my siblings and I. my son has also grown up eating at that table. It's a curious thing, though. the top and leaves are white oak while the legs and aprons are maple. My grandfather refinished it when he got and it still looks great.

SO nothing really relevant to us in our need of terrain. I was hoping it was higher resolution than what we got in SU Pro.

make a copy of the drawing. relink the model in the copy. delete the viewports you do not want in the original. copy and paste the viewports from the copy into the original. not elegant, but it should update when you change the models.

Just a quick update on this.....figured since there weren't any...."yeah me too" replies, I checked LO 2013 (still installed) on my machine and it behaves the same as I describe above.(LO 2014) (viewport line style/scale fails to display/print properly) Funny I do not recall this behavior in previous versions...and I am fairly certain I have saved .pdf output files to prove that. Anywho...seems to be a localized situation. Best, Charlie PS....now to try and understand why last saved SU view seems to randomly populate already assinged/scene specific viewports in LO. ....perhaps another thread on that.......

@wo3dan said: With your suggestion: Scene A with section plane 1 active Scene B with section plane 1 still active, different location though.. Thanks Gerrit, To split hairs.....I envision section plane 1 uses same position (location) for "Scenes A&B"...only camera "B" is 180° to Camera "A".(think turntable) @wo3dan said: The animation from A to B (and back) shows the transition of the section cut running from A to B (and back) (scene transitions enabled and unequal to zero) The only minor difference is that things are much simpler now without the need of an extra section plane. I envision a "sweeping" 180° Turn/transition from "A" to "B" using the same plane.......yes...unlike the current transition from one plane to another....though maybe the sweeping transition would be more........??...sexy? Again...thanks for you input/thought's. Best, Charlie
