      Thanks Gai,
In my case, I would politely say Layout can be a bit of a challenge sometimes.
But a little tenacity goes a long way, I can now get pretty good results for most of what I need.
Hence the anxious awaiting of Layout losing the Beta connotation.

I'll attempt a couple more/diff. images, I guess the above was so small as I tried to include such a wide aspect to include the page size.(our limit to 500 pix).

      Best,

      Charlie

    • Full Scale Templates

To try and bring some cheer to the Layout Forum,I thought I would share that I recently experimented with a full scale template using layout.
      A very simple Fireplace Mantle printed @ 1:1......Sheet size was 114" x36"
Attached screenshot shows the .pdf page size & pen wt, local print shop delivered a quality run to my surprise!

    • RE: I'd like to use LayOut, but why is it sooooooo slow?

      Goggin,
Gai is right on the mark, work in Layout with the lowest dpi for most response time.
However,Final dpi output seems to be dependant on your hardware/model size.
      For example:
Working model "A" @ 72 DPI in layout...good response time etc,, then export .pdf @ 300 dpi. sometimes good(delay as it renders)......other times grey box with red X (usually fast render).
You will need to find the "sweet spot" per model, by that I mean the max dpi output(no grey box w/Red x) over the Layout working dpi.
      Hope this helps.
I am sorry I cannot be more specific on this, only because I have results that vary.
I am hopeful Layout Exits Beta soon, as I have spent some good time with it and really like it's future potential :~)

    • RE: Section cutters with marker flags

      Hank,
Great suggestion, I have been using a method in one form or another like the attached .skp.
Simply inserting/rotating a directional component imediately after placing section slice/make unique/label/place on layer.
      I would welcome an easier method.............TIG...... :~)
BTW/ Thanks TIG for all your prior hard work, I for one much apreciate it!

      lapx,
I read you are going to use Kerky for the lights, but for those that may not know, you can fake lights in Sketchup as well....

    • RE: A question for the wood workers.

      Gidon,

My first thought is why not have a suitable insert crafted, perhaps lead crystal or the like.
The lead crystal insert preserves/enhances the wine........& er well...preserves the very old wooden goblet.
      Maybe not a purist's solution.....

      EDIT:
      Ron,
I took the liberty of "welding" your entire Library of profiles.
I would be happy to send all the welded files to you directly (for re-insertion?).
      Maybe Coen could advise ?
You have assembled such a great library, hope you don't mind my welding rod. :~)
BTW,I did a count on the number of profiles (quantity).

      Ron's Library......# Profiles

    • RE: Woodworking projects for kids

      Gidon,
I have done a couple of small woodworking projects with a good friends two boys.(birdhouse & wooden toolbox). I must admit, I think I got more enjoyment from the experience than the boys did, and they had a great time.
Also,Having the drawing with details on a 24"x36" (personalized with the boys names etc.)was fun too,and the boys had to "have a plan" for any projects they were going to do at home thereafter.

Nok hockey is a project I will do with the boys next time they visit.(.skp attached with wooden toobox)

    • RE: Failed to Save ...2D Image Export

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried....or willing to try to replicate the results I have posted above? Anyone....Anyone.....
Also,& In a way I am a bit surpised the google folks haven't chimed in about this.
Seems the absense of background/sky greatly improves the exporting result, possibly giving a clue to the 'failed to save" message.

    • RE: ½ PIPE ALONG PATH

      TIG,
Please humor me,but would there be any way to maintain the ½ pipe (profile) diameter in a static axis reference.
Other words, always perpendicular/parallel to the path,no matter what the +/- path.
      Attached .skp "turns" along path.
Hope that makes a wee bit of sense 😉
      Apologies per file size. 😳

BTW,thanks for all your great scripts/hard work.

Since there already is a pipe along path script[TIG],why not a ½ Pipe along path?

I Imagine It useful For those designing pool slides and the like.
      Or Other uses I'm sure.
      Just thinking out loud.
