@karamouza said: Wow, very nice concept! Now if someone could do this as a sketchup style... great! actually I used the moleskine as background in an animation for a documentary, as you see in the attached image. Thank you Dave for the kind offer to make a style with it Karamouza, if you want to make it by yourself the process is easy: just render the moleskine with plain pages (or ruled or whatelse you want) as jpg image, create a new style and use the saved jpg as watermark; then choose a sketchy edge you like and mix them. /matteo [image: 7cCR_moleskine-e-cartolina.jpg]

It's in the plans to make a Camera plugin. Object representing the Scene tabs (selectable off course) with extra tools and dialogs to visually control them. But I need help to understand how cameras work when I begin on this.

You know what, I think I've run across this before when I'd done just that, trying to create a ramp. Just jugged my memory.

Thanks for the heads up about Deep View! Question though: Anyone know how to create a 3d pdf directly from Deep View via Adobe Acobat Pro Extended? DV directly imports the .skp rather nicely, and it would great if you could simply create the 3d pdf right from DV. However, it seems that you are dependant on MS Office for the 3d pdf creation. While this works ok, you lose the scenes/model views when creating the 3d pdf. Unless I am missing something very obvious. Any ideas are greatly apreciated. C

And Shift+Erase will hide the lines. There is a significan difference between the two however; with hidden lines, the faces remain separate while with softening, they will be "joined" to form a (curved) surface. On faces divided with hidden lines only, you can still access texture positioning, PushPull and all the stuff that can only be applied on single faces while to do this on smoothed surfaces, you will always turn on hidden geometry first. (Very briefly...) The best would still be what both me and Anssi suggested; start over and care for all the faces being created of single faces where you need not hide/soften edges. Much easier to work with.

That's true. For just one project however, I don't think it would be worth the hassle. But of course it's always so "convincing" in front of a client to show off with such a tricky solution

Well, when I needed to export to 3ds, we were to retexture everything there so I could go with the SU exporter with welded vertices and just show the SU material as a rough example. Can I say I am lucky? DE is kind of pricy...

@midlana42 said: What do I have to specify in LO in order to export the vector type only? I'm making possibly a big assumption that LO's vector PDF exporter is different (bug-free) than SU's... In Layout, you can select the view and set it's rendering style in the Sketchup Model "tab" in the Tray It is hardly helpful, but the problem is, I understand, that all hidden line algorithms have to limit their accuracy, because they cannot keep caculating indefinitely. So always some lines that are directly on a surface are interpreted as hiding behind it, leading to missed lines. Besides SU PDF and DWG exports, I have seen the same with hidden-line exports from Autocad too. I have not tried if it is the same with Archicad and Revit too. Anssi

And here's a picture of a DC config box and the menu open side by side. In the configuration window, you'll see the attributes color_options, name_option, size_options. Those get alphabetized automatically. And the order that they appear in the configuration window is the order they will appear in the menu window. So to get them to change order, I would need to add a 01 02 03 in front of the in the desired order. That does not affect the user friendly name that appear in the menu. I am using Windows XP-SP2. Yes, the toolbars are in the correct position when I launch SU. The other application will be either AutoCAD or an image file using the Windows Picture and Fax viewer. There are no desktop enhancers. With best regards PRSS

Yeah, it sure looked double faced because of the handle. But it was just an illusion. Chris

thanks Anssi. it seems to me though, that your Dynamic Component works if you scale it in only one direction. the other direction is unscalable. that was the problem I was fighting with. now we needed a way to implement the same behaviour to both sides.

@escapeartist said: The cylinders were only 2.5" dia. and the radius was only 1/2". And whatever faces after these small specs would have about 1/16" edges (in those "turns"), SU will always have problems with creating. Thus TIG's advice. Mostly we encounter such problems when using the follow me tool or intersecting geometry (with the line tool itself you'd probably not draw so small items) so this is when it's very apparent however it would be a general problem.

Sketchup uses the default browser of your system; Internet Explorer on Windows and Safari on the Mac. You can set other (like Firefox) to be the default browser for Internet but not for Sketchup - so it will go on using the originaldefault browser. Anyway, this shouldn't prevent you from uploading a model provided you are logged in via SU as well. But when you try to upload something, it should tell you to log in (from SU) and when you have done so, it should let you upload the model. So either with the G button or on the upload page of SU, can you log in or is there a problem with logging in at all?

@putnik said: When an 'organised' script gets updated by its author, you have to go through all the steps again, which is a pain. I suggest you lobby the other authors to make their works Organizer-compatible. That would cut down on the headaches for users. @putnik said: All in all a better script manager is really needed. Unfortunately, a script manager relies on standards. If authors are unwilling to follow - or don't know about - the standards that allow the manager to function, things won't get any better.
