Look at the youtube video - I must say, why do people post them with NO sound or clear instructions?, anyway, half way through the silent one highlights the spirals and chooses one to keep - what is the shortcut for doing that selection/deletion?
Also, if there is an easier way of making Barley twists then I am all ears. Thanks.

Ctrl + A is to "Select all" but you probably know this (it's for many applications).
Now while still in the select tool he presses Shift+Ctrl (you can see the small "-" sign appearing meaning to destract from seletion) and triple clicks to deselect one thread then presses Del to erase all the others (still selected).

          The select tool and
          Shift: toggle between add/distract
          Ctrl: add
          Shift+Ctrl distract

Pretty cool video and I have to tell you that I understood it without a word but I can certainly understand you for complaining about the lack of any annotation.
