Hey - I just thought of something... Instead of making the image transparent for sketchy edges, I could cut it away. I'd have to cut the image around the solid shape. Here's what I mean: I am putting images of 2D people into a 3D model. The area in the image that's around the person is transparent. The sketchy edges do not show through. How about if I cut away all the transparent areas? Is there a way to follow the outline of an object in an image and cut around it? (A way that does not make me want to pull out my hair. And quick, too. I have lots of images.) By the way, this is for a scene from the movie I'm making. I am creating a series of short movies using SU animation. You can see the first one, Plain Sight, at TreasureInside.net The next movie has a party scene with many images of people. --- Joel

Just realized that my first model had nothing on the underside of the roof...it was hollow! I filled in under the eaves and tried to add a little detail to look like a gutter around the roof using the follow me tool. I also added some shadows just to make it a little more appealing. Yes, this "when and where" to use SU work flow is the issue. I am assuming that these drawings were NOT done in SU/LO if so, this is what I would like to emulate, and do the detail key numbers "limk" to other locations on the model? aloha red

As far as I also know, 3ds is a triangulated format. If they insist, let them suffer with it.

But also, it is not just something annoying you need to do to keep file size low but once you edit an instance of the same component in a model, all other instances will instantly change a well (pun intended). This means that should you decide to change anything afterwards, you don't need to go through all your model again but do a minor change here and all the model will "update".
